In a separate panel below we see two groups of children: one group is angry and/or downcast, and one of them says "I can't believe it! My hero -- lost!"; the other are happy and raising their arms in the air, and one of them says "Yay! My hero WON!" Naturally there is no indication of which was which: you needed to buy the comic for that!
