The bamboo scaffolding that is used in Hong Kong is truly something to behold. Whilst this isn't my photo, that building is the one I saw when I visited about 10 years ago. The bamboo is lashed with various things including that plastic banding used around boxes, split lengthways.
Getting hit by a scaffolding seems to be more likely than being sucked out of an airplane window ;-) wien.orf.at/stories/3053...

I actually had to spend some time googling whether there have been any such accidents in Finland. Seems like no pedestrian has ever gotten injured or killed due to scaffolding in Finland! Some close calls, sure. Anyway, I think stuff falling from the scaffolding is more likely danger than collapse.
This is why I don鈥檛 like when cities like NYC have permanent scaffolding.
I won't always cross the street, but I do walk a lot faster until I'm past scaffolding.
