Diana Hayes 🇨🇦🏳️⚧️ @dchayes.ca · May 8 (1/) This one was part of an image sequence we use to measure the altitude of clouds over Gale by using the velocity of the clouds and the shadows they cast on the ground. It's been more difficult recently because our primary shadow target (Mount Sharp) has been hidden by nearby topography.

(2/) Consequently, we've been hunting for alternate locations where we might see shadows. The crater floor is a promising target, but it's been pretty hit-and-miss so far this year. The clouds are definitely visible here (😍), but the shadows... not so much (😔).
Thanks a lot for the context of this image sequence! The bright arc on the left is an optical artifact in the camera, right?
