This is a oddity from the end of the 80s. The film Is a slasher set in a supermarket. The setting is pretty original. Chopping mall is the only other one that comes to mind and that's a bit different since its set in a larger shopping center and a slasher adjacent movie.

The film starts like a home made movie with bad acting and fighting. It has weird shots throughout the movie that includes inside a rotary phone, inside the floor that's being mopped, etc.

Theres names in the cast like Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Greg Nicotero. The film was heavily marketed with Raimi/Campbell although the latter just drops by.

The perpetrator is kept a secret throughout the movie. But for some reason they give it away in the original poster where the killer is displayed in the center of it with a knife and clearly recognizable.

The kill effects end up being quite good and theres even few that have some enguinity and fun campy jokes. In the end the movie is a straightforward slasher with kill after kill with no actual plot. It's not a complaint. Thats how these are supposed to be. The movie takes a while to find its groove but once it hits it, it's actually a pretty great slasher.

This is a fascinating piece from the dying down era of the 80s slasher movement that pretty soon got new fire blown into the genre with the meta movement that played with the nostalgia of this wild ride that lasted a decade.
