It's an equation requiring use of the quadratic formula, with the goal of figuring out what X is. 18x⅔ = -55x⅓ + 28 You have to rearrange the equation to equal zero, then plug a formula, simplify the fractions, then convert it back into the terms of the original variables. Because these variables are ⅓ in a factored equation, we just cube both sides, then make sure the answer cannot be simplified further. Two answers work for x here: 64/729, and -343/8.
