Louie our black and white mutt chasing down a rolling foam frisbee that I've thrown from the other end of the yard, it's one of his favorite games since he was a pup. He can also catch the frisbee in mid-air, but he seems to prefer chasing it down like this... he's a lethal frisbee-catching machine.
The imposing mass of Mount Rainier in Washington state, elevation 14,410 feet, or 4392 meters. It's an active volcano, is the tallest mountain in Washington, and has the largest glacier in the lower 48 states- the Emmons Glacier as seen in this photo. The mountain appears almost covered in snow and ice, with prominent rock ridges and peaks, against a partly cloudy blue sky, with evergreen trees framing the foreground.

My first pair of ice climbing tools, bought ~1983: a Camp axe with adze and fixed head, and a Simond Chacal hammer, both with straight shafts and wrist leashes. I climbed ice routes in New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, and Pennsylvania with these fairly archaic tools.

We've been afraid to walk him off-leash because he still gets overly excited when he sees wildlife or other dogs, but this was a fairly safe place to give it a try and he was quite well-behaved and stayed close to us.

Here's a glimpse of the always-impressive, and still partly snow-covered, granite North face of Mount Stuart. At 9415 feet elevation it's one of the most impressive mountains in WA state, and its North side always fills me with trepidation. I've climbed Mt Stuart twice, both times by the relatively easier and very fun West Ridge route, which essentially goes up the right-hand skyline ridge of the peak to the summit. I always wanted to climb the North Ridge route, but just never got to it.
