Kalli's laughter seeped under the door as Sam fumed and farted, pounding on Kalli's door between turbulent toots. "God dammit Kalli!" Frrrt "Open the door so I can kick your ass!" Brrrpt "Stop laughing! It's not—" Pfrrt "Funny!" Brapapapap She beat her fist against the door for a few moments more as she spent her wrath. She stood, breathing heavily from the exertion and calmed herself. She took several calming breaths and slowly, gently, knocked one more time. She stood silently for a few moments more before finally she heard the tiny click of the lock as the handle started to turn. Sam was still red faced and mentally prepared to really tear into her roommate. All manner of foul language flashed through her mind as she prepared the choicest, toe-curling curses for her friend. The door cracked open and Kalli's head emerged, ducked down demurely with a poorly concealed smile on her face. She turned her head up to placate Sam with the best sad puppy-eyed look she could muster. Sam pulled herself up to her full height and drew a deep breath to begin berating Kalli. Squeak Kalli's self control collapsed and she fell to the floor laughing as Sam sputtered above her. After a few more failed starts at a statement Sam deflated, slumped against the wall, and slid down to Kalli's level.

"Kalli, about last—" "Nope, not a word about last night." Kalli had crossed the distance in a heartbeat and now she had the sheet of stickers pointed at Sam's face, a mere inch from her nose. "Sorry, I just wanted to apologize." Sam mumbled. Her eyes strained, nearly crossing, to stare at the end of the paper like she was staring down the barrel of a gun. She swallowed nervously, fearing how poorly the conversation would go. "Shush," Kalli said dismissively. "I asked you about these and you just fed me some bullshit. No more. Spill it. What do you know about these." Sam's eyes flicked between the sheet of stickers and Kalli's dark glare. "Well, let's go." Kalli's arm snapped to the side, the sticker sheet making a small crack as it moved. Her chin jutted out and she looked down her nose imperiously at Sam who cringed down and shuffled past her. Sam plopped down on the couch with her legs pulled up to her chest. She had assumed it would be bad when she finally had to talk to Kalli but she had expected Kalli to be more angry and less... strict. She felt like she was a child being admonished for some misdeed and not a roommate being yelled at for causing problems for her friend. Sam wasn't used to seeing this side of Kalli, especially given that Sam was older by a couple years. "So, did you know that was gonna happen." Kalli scowled at Sam. "No. I guess. Maybe." "So what, did you know the whole time what they did? Do you know what they all do?" Kalli's tone was a mixture of hurt and accusation.
Chapter 9 Page 53 No amount of worrying about the previous night stopped Sam from having work in the morning and so she was still up and moving at five. She was dressed and cleaned and just making her coffee when she heard one of the doors open. It was highly unusual for anyone else to be up this early so she was fairly surprised by it. Her curiosity about which roommate was up this early was resolved by the long low groan that preceded them down the hallway. "Uuuuugh, Saaaam," Beth called down the hall. "Tell me you're making coffee." "Morning Beth," She yawned back. "I just made a pot." "Thank god," Beth sighed, joining Sam in the kitchen. "You're up early," Sam stated while she poured another cup. "I know. Ugh, just kill me." Sam simply raised an eyebrow to encourage her to continue. She didn't have a lot of time to chat but could spare a few minutes to commiserate. "We've been having to rework some of our menu. That's why I've been working late, and working early," She said around her mug. "One of our major suppliers just went out of business. No warning whatsoever! We got a new supplier but it's not quite the same products so we've had to adapt. I think the stress might just make John literally explode." Sam nodded and exclaimed at all the right points as Beth continued recounting all the new problems at work. It seemed never ending. She was glad Beth liked her work but to Sam it sounded miserable.

A small feeling of panic rose in her stomach as she realized that whatever it was going to do to her was too late to stop. Before she had time to form any thoughts on the matter another feeling besides panic rose in her stomach. She let out a small exclamation of pain as a strong cramp rocked her gut. The cramp was accompanied by an audible gurgle. She pitched forward in her seat as another cramp hit her like a punch. A cold sheen of sweat formed on her brow as she struggled to her feet. Another gurgle and another cramp washed over her. She bit down on her lip and took deep gulping breaths as she stumbled towards the bathroom. She could hear the shower running as she approached but she didn't spare a thought for Sam, just herself. She reached the door and went for the handle without knocking but it just rattled in her hand. Locked. She turned the handle harder as another ominous groan rose from her stomach. Still locked. The motion of walking to the door and exerting herself against the handle had rapidly exhausted her stamina and she felt the her butt quivering with the effort of holding it. "Fuck. Sam. Sam!" She called through the door. She leaned against the door and knocked rapidly and continuously. "Sam let me in I need to crap!" "What?" Came a muffled reply from inside, nearly drowned out by the sound of the shower. "Please! I need to go!" Kalli cried. She desperately clamped down on her bowels and was trying to physically hold her butt cheeks together. She understood that this was a matter of seconds and not minutes. "Hold on," came a tired response from inside. Kalli heard the water shut off and started to breathe a sigh of relief.
Chapter 8 Page 45 Sam hurried down the block away from the apartment. She pulled her jacket tighter around herself. She really wasn't dressed for the weather but she felt like she had to get away from Kalli's prying questions. She made her way down the street towards the store while trying to put Kalli out of her mind. She didn't really have anything she needed to buy today but she could just pick up a snack or something. She walked a jagged path down the sidewalk having to dodge puddles of muddy water left over from the last rainstorm. A cold breeze made her shiver as she walked. She started to regret running out while she waited at the last crosswalk before the store. The warm air was a relief as Sam stepped inside. She grabbed a basket and headed down the aisles trying to think of anything she could grab to make the trip worthwhile. She didn't have any sort of plan as she wandered around. She went down each and every aisle but most of what she saw was just not worth picking up. She didn't do a ton of cooking, usually just snacking on fruit or eating cereal for dinner or grabbing a sandwich on campus. She had a box of granola bars and some chocolate by the time she was past the food. She walked through the pharmacy section next to grab another bottle of lotion. Her hands had been dry all month despite the rain they were getting. As she grabbed her usual brand she turned and finally noticed that the aisle was also home to the incontinence section. She had never noticed it prior but this time she froze when she faced it. Her eyes locked on the rows of pads and pullups and diapers. She poured another for Kalli and then turned and held it out for her. Kalli carefully pulled it from Sam's outstretched fingers. "Thanks," She murmured. "No problem," Sam replied, yawing around her words. They stood opposite each other, both leaned against the counter. "So, did you really just drop trou and fall asleep last night?" Sam coughed into her coffee and her ears went pink. "C'mon, you were knocked clean out. Your sheets looked like they'd strangled you." "No, it's whatever. I was just really tired is all." "Yeah, okay Sam." Kalli stared straight at her. She tilted her head and bore into her with her gaze. Like she was trying to read Sam's thoughts. Kalli was suspicious of of something, but she didn't even know what. Sam was being cagey and that was enough to keep Kalli interested. Sam withered under the look and kept her eyes down. She couldn't make eye contact and instead just blushed more. Her thoughts were tied up in the events of the last night and the state Kalli almost found her in today. "Aaanyway," Kalli started with the 'any' draw out for a solid second. "What are you up to today? I'm done with my homework for the week so I'm just hanging out."
Chapter 7 Page 37 Sam awoke bathed in light, completely disoriented, and tangled in her sheets. The sound of the TV softly filtered through to her consciousness. "What time is it?" she croaked. Sam rolled and twisted, trying to find a way out of her sheets when a strange feeling of bulk between her legs stopped her. "Oh shit!" She exclaimed. "What?" came a question from the other room. "Uhh, nothing!" she called back. She twisted further, still trapped in her sheets. Sunlight lit the room and the door was wide open. She stretched a hand out to try and shut the door from her bed. She was moments away from falling out of bed when Kalli popped her head in. "Must have been a rough night," She smirked. "Sleeping with the door open?" Sam yelped and retreated back into the sheets. She couldn't let Kalli see her like this, stuck in bed in a giant diaper. She'd never shut up about it. "I'm fine, just a long day," she mumbled out from beneath the covers. "Now get out, I want to get ready." "What, worried I'll see your bare butt? You left your pants in the bathroom you know." Kalli couldn't see it but Sam started furiously blushing again. This was a nightmare. "Oh my god just leave," she pleaded. "Heh, yeah, whatever." Kalli chuckled. "You should get up. It's like noon already." Sam groaned softly. This was not how she had wanted to spend her day off.

Her cheeks turned deep crimson as she started blushing. Despite the sticker being a diaper she hadn't really considered that she might end up in one. She turned back and forth in front of the mirror analyzing her new silhouette. She stretched to see her butt in the mirror and found it had grown three sizes with all the padding. She wasn't entirely displeased with that part of the look. The diaper rustled and crinkled with every tiny movement as she shifted. To Sam's ears it was cacophonous, like it was loudly announcing itself each time. She imagined that it could be heard clear across the apartment and thinking that caused her to blush even deeper. She could feel that the stickers magic was spent now that it had adjusted her outfit so she peeled it off her arm, disposing of it with the rest. She checked that she had locked the bathroom door as she didn't want anyone walking in on the sight and then pulled her shirt up a bit. The waistband of the diaper rose up well past the top of her pants, clear to her bellybutton. The white plastic was stretched taut between the large blue tapes that held it closed. Next she pulled down her pants having to shimmy back and forth a bit to get them pulled down over the bulk. Her panties were stretched to their limit cutting an indent into the diaper. She was more careful sliding her underwear down, making sure she didn't tear or stretch them any more than they already were. With her pants now around her ankles she looked once more into the mirror and somehow managed to blush even more. So far it was just as she expected. She turned the lock on the handle to be sure it was only the sticker working and then jiggled the handle. Sure enough it was locked firm. So far so good. She slipped a nail under the edge of the sticker as she simultaneously let a touch of her power enter the sticker, resonating with what was already there to confirm she was the one who placed it. She was then able to peel it away and lo the door was unlocked again. Sam nodded to herself. The lock was a lock. Perfectly predictable. She contemplated the tiny clock on the tiny lock and decided she should test that too. She poked her head out of the bathroom, confirming that she was still alone and grabbed a pen from her room. Once back in the bathroom she pondered the lock again. "Do I write a time when it stops or like an amount of minutes?" She wondered out loud. She certainly had enough of the things to try both so she did just that. Checking her phone she figured out the time in exactly fifteen minutes. On one she wrote the full time and on another she wrote simply fifteen minutes. One she stuck to the door again and the other to the medicine cabinet. With both now shut tight she tried to pull one off. Sam was surprised to find she actually couldn't remove them. Whatever setting a time had done it also removed her ability to deactivate them, even though she was the one who set them in the first place. She was glad she had only used fifteen minutes because she was now properly locked in the bathroom. She gave a small nervous giggle as she returned to the stickers left on her sheet. She hoped that she was right about how the timer worked because she really hadn't planned that through. There was nothing to do but wait so she decided to just move on.
Sticker Shock Chapter 6 Page 26 Sam didn't spend any more of her evening thinking about experimenting with her stickers after she shut herself away. She prepared an outfit for the morning and threw herself into bed. Her weekdays were too busy to spend time worrying about something that would still be there tomorrow. As she drifted off to sleep her thoughts darkened briefly as she thought of Kalli and hoped she didn't experiment too much herself. Sam rarely dreamed deeply and that night was no different. Whatever disjointed images and strange scenarios did play out they were fleeting and unremarkable. To Sam it felt that she had only just laid down when her alarm blared. Five o'clock. Pitch black. The usual. She was anything but quiet and subtle getting ready. The soundproofing stickers she had placed on most of the doors in the house continued to work flawlessly. No small amount of the three's success as roommates was due to not waking each other up with their varying schedules. After she finished her morning routine Sam padded softly into the kitchen to make her coffee. She was laser focused on caffeine and completely overlooked the small note on the counter. Whatever it said she wasn't going to find out as it was brushed off onto the floor in her rush to prepare her drink. Her shuffling around in the kitchen succeeded in knocking the little note under the fridge, lost forever. Sam would never know what was on that note but she would surely eventually regret not having seen it. Sam's morning commute was a mindless affair. It didn't occupy any real fraction of her thinking to get on and off a train and so she instead spent the morning thinking about stickers. She thought about stickers at the train station. She thought about stickers while pressed against the other passengers. She thought about stickers while applying stickers to price tags.
Sticker Shock Chapter 5 Page 22 Chapter 5 The two girls reclined on the couch, eating pizza and chatting. They caught up on the latest from school, complaining about professors and workloads. They hadn't shared a single class or instructor during their entire time at college but they still commiserated. Sam happily lambasted every grader in Kalli's department and Kalli was equally enthusiastic in insulting every coder who wrote Sam's architecture software. They traded progressively more ridiculous tales of their work for almost an hour when Kalli broke rank. "Hey Sam, did you get any further with those stickers?" "Oh, no, I haven't really had time since yesterday," Sam said, a slight blush creeping up her cheeks. "Why?" "Just curious," Kalli shrugged. "I tried looking up stuff online but I couldn't find anything. The link in that QR code doesn't point anywhere anymore, just a dead site. And no dice trying to find the specific stickers." "Huh, yeah, it's really weird," Sam replied, not quite able to make eye contact while saying it. "You'd think if they wanted to sell these things they'd make sure you could find them again." Kalli stared off into the middle distance while talking, being bad at eye-contact more generally. "Yeah, for sure." "Well, IDK about the ones you got but I guess I did figure out one thing." Sam perked up just a bit at that. "The handwritten part did mention combinations right?" "Yeah?" "Well I tried looking up if stickers that worked in combination exist."
Page 20 The immediacy of the issue wiped her curiosity about the sticker clean from her mind. Her focus was now singular, the toilet her target. She let out a low groan and rapidly shuffled toward the bathroom. She threw her door open and launched herself down the hallway. She flew into the bathroom, one hand tearing at the door and the other at her pants. She slammed the door shut and practically threw herself onto the toilet, ripping down her pants in the process. Finally seated she let loose and emptied herself for what felt like minutes. Sam sat in stunned silence, her bladder finally drained. She didn't think a thing, just basked in her relief. And she stayed there, zoned out and drained for what felt like minutes though it was probably only seconds. She finally unclenched her hands and felt a small tug against the fine hairs on her hand. Sam's eyes snapped down to stare the tiny sticker. She threaded a sliver of energy into the sticker as she pulled it away from her hand. Finally having a moment to think about things that weren't the toilet she understood what had just happened. Despite her own experience as evidence she still doubted that such a thing would happen. Could the sticker really have filled her bladder to the point of bursting? And if it could, why? First she wondered what possible purpose that could serve. Next she wondered why it was in her sticker fo the month club. Where would they even have acquired these from and why would they send them out? Her mind ran through possibilities, none making a bit of sense, as she finished up in the bathroom. Sam retreated to her room, her mind still racing with the implication of the stickers. And the threat. She couldn't determine the intent of the stickers but she could guess at the mechanics. They seemed like they were designed to be used on people. She sat on the edge of her bed, gripping the sheets of little stickers.
Sticker Shock Chapter 4 Page 17 Sam's Tuesdays were really very similar to her Mondays. She woke early, made coffee and braced herself to head for the train. This morning though she noticed that she could still hear the staccato of typing from Kalli's room. It was beyond belief that she would be up this early but not unheard of that she would still be up this late. Whichever it was really didn't have anything to do with Sam so she headed out into the cold to catch her train. The structure of her day was pretty much unchanged and she passed her work in the usual way. Few customers and many price stickers in the morning, a rushed lunch, and several hours of lecture and coursework. She passed it all without issue. Her routine was running like clockwork and before she really noticed it was time to grab the train home again. Her commute was as uneventful in the evening as it was in the morning. The primary difference today was that there was no Beth at home when she arrived. Beth's hours at the restaurant meant that she'd be out until ten at least. Sam wasn't envious of her schedule but Beth seemed happy with it. She let herself into the apartment and was a bit surprised to see the lights were all off in the apartment. She Would have figured that Kalli would have left her room for something by now. "Kalli?" She called into the apartment. No answer. She flipped on some lights as she deposited her coat in the hallway closet. "Kalli?" She called again as she moved further into the apartment, flipping on lights as she went. No light filtered from beneath Kalli's door and she was just about to knock or call again when a string of expletives exploded from under the door.
