I get the DSA position, but firmly believe reforming the DNC is a dead end. The priority should be to break the two-party system and build a real leftist alternative. The Greens have a solid socialist platform and they're on the ballot, so why not build that party like other countries have done? I have no interest in infiltrating a party that oscillates between alt-right and tepid center-left. IMO we should end the policy lurch and I'll be putting my energy into that.

My drive for critical thinking, education and learning is greater than my ego, fear and hate. And I am so thankful to myself for that. Idk how it happened, I think it's because I grew up very near a library. I didn't have internet. I didn't even have cable. But I had a library card.

My favorite part of the book is the contrast between the mob’s overindulgent, seemingly invincible grip on Cuba and the quiet, underestimated organizing of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and the July 26th Movement. It’s shocking to read about how many U.S. politicians, businessmen, corporations, and celebrities (like JFK and Frank Sinatra) openly exploited the Cuban people. In a David versus Goliath moment, the Cuban people rise up and drive the oppressors out in an absolute historic triumph. It's of the people, by the people, and crucial to know this perspective today. Most Americans probably don’t know that before the revolution Cuba was a U.S. puppet state under Batista, an American backed dictator. Forty percent of the population couldn’t read, and Cuba was openly labeled "the brothel of the Western Hemisphere". That’s what the U.S. wants for Cuba again. End the embargo. 🇨🇺
