The second lesson is doikayt as practice, not slogan. Attention to cultural development, education, and mutual aid made the Bund an integral social institution, not just a political project, that sustained Jews through bouts of racial terror and poverty, and even followed them through emigration when they had to flee. While Zionist critics spill fountains of ink criticizing today’s neo-Bundists for being nothing more than a practice in nostalgic sloganeering, one proves this assumption incorrect simply by looking around: across the United States and Europe, whether in formal Bund chapters or Bund-inspired groups, neo-Bundists are reanimating nearly forgotten Jewish diasporic languages, creating new diasporic culture, building mutual aid networks, and organizing alongside their neighbors in the fight for justice. Der Spekter not only uplifts those efforts, but shows how Bundist values can be applied in a multiplicity of ways and as an analytical frame in a world that is in desperate need of tools to fight the inhumanity of what Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor refer to as end-times fascism.

She was hauled off to a death camp because of her race and religion. Her story has nothing to do with the illegal immigration, fraud, and lawlessness plaguing Minnesota today. Monday, October 13, 2025 – New York, NY: Two years after Hamas broke the preexisting ceasefire with its brutal attack on Israel, we can now celebrate the return of hostages, an end to the war in Gaza, and what promises to be the first step toward a permanent peace. We applaud the U.S. Administration's efforts as well as those of Qatar, Egypt and others in bringing this about. We mourn the loss of life and suffering endured these past two years by Israelis and innocent Palestinians. Much work is ahead as we move ahead to the next phases: the establishment of an interim body to oversee governance and reconstruction in Gaza, secured by a coalition of international forces to disarm Hamas and other terrorist groups. Pressure needs to be brought to bear to make sure commitments are abided by: Hamas must lay down its arms and not be part of a new governing body; the Palestinian Authority must be reformed. Yet, as we await these next steps, Israelis and Gazans have a right to celebrate, and we can hope that this will lead to a long-term solution of two sovereign states, where both can live in peace and harmony.

LA Yiddish serves as a central hub and gathering point for Yiddish culture, language, and community in Southern California - a region with one of the largest and most diverse Jewish populations in the world. Conceived as both a network and an annual celebration, LA Yiddish connects individuals, organizations, and cultural institutions dedicated to exploring and sustaining Yiddish life in all its forms. At its heart, LA Yiddish is a collaborative initiative designed to bring together the many Yiddish and Jewish cultural efforts scattered across Los Angeles and beyond. It functions as a shared space for coordination, discovery, and creativity where scholars, artists, musicians, educators, and community members can exchange ideas, resources, and inspiration. Through events such as LA Yiddish Day, ongoing public programs, and digital resources, LA Yiddish aims to revitalize engagement with Yiddish language and culture, while spotlighting California's unique role in the global Yiddish story. From the early Yiddish poets, cinema, and Yiddish-language journals and press in California to contemporary artists and learners, the project celebrates the continuum of Yiddish creativity that has shaped Jewish life on the West Coast. We serve as both a bridge and an archive, another link in the goldene keyt (golden chain) connecting generations, mapping cultural memory, and ensuring that the warmth, wit, and wisdom of Yiddish culture remain a living part of California's cultural landscape.
