A Minnesota federal judge has ordered the state's top federal prosecutor and officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to appear in his courtroom Tuesday to explain why they should not be held in civil or criminal contempt for what he alleges are repeated court violations. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Bryan's order cites "numerous unlawful" failures by the U.S. government to return belongings to immigrants ordered released from tention, including their cash, cellphones, jewelry, driver's licenses, passports and more. Bryan summoned Minnesota's U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen, along with the head of the U.S. Attorney's Office's civil division and a representative from ICE to U.S. District urt in St. Paul on March 3 to "show cause why they should not be held in civil or criminal contempt."
