You’ll probably be back in the Human Realm after a few hundred thousand years. No big deal.

HELVETICA type anatomy visual at the top. BOLD in its line usage, a remnant of its origins as an International Typographic Style and Swiss Style typeface. Helvetica’s thickness and no-nonsense boldness can also be considered a vestigial aspect from its mother-typeface, Akzidenz-Grotesk, which had a similar quality. This boldness might explain its popularity among safety equipment. CLEAR in presentation and identity. As previously stated, the style Helvetica was designed in valued easy reading. Helvetica was designed with an especially tall X-height as a way to make lowercase letters larger and easier to read from a distance. Likely a much-appreciated feature for those who frequent airports. NEUTRAL in ideology. A well-known fact about Helvetica is that it was designed to be “Neutral” and lack all ideology, philosophy, and singular identity. That was the designer’s intention, which reverberates in its legacy as a modernist typeface. Whether or not it succeeded in that goal is worthy of debate, however with a history so interesting and linked to so many moments, eras, and schools of thought in graphic design history, one questions if Neutrality was an achievable goal in the first place. Well, at least it looks nice.
