Meet Murray: so desperate for friends that he will pretend to have friends to make himself seem more attractive to people who might some day agree to become a new friend. The fact that he's 8'2" doesn't help anything. Meanwhile, the top of Steve's head inexplicably has a generic plastic building block nub. For years his parents thought they'd birthed a weird onion creature, but no, that's just how he looks. Nobody knows why he refuses to wear a hat - perhaps he gets off on the attention? He's clearly not wearing pants in this comic, so that's entirely possible, and a little bit gross. In the first panel, Murray asks Steve where he's from. It's unclear who's visiting whom, or whether that's the correct usage of the word 'whom' at all (it is). Maybe Steve is visiting from afar. Maybe the reason Murray has no friends because he's the type of person who asks someone in a place he's visiting where they're from. Either way, Steve is from Toronto. In the second panel, Murray reveals he doesn't know geography and asks where Toronto is, as if there are more than one of them. Steve humours him (note the Canadian 'humours') and confirms he's from the Toronto in Ontario, Canada, being the one that exists. In the third panel, Murray fulfils the promise of the narrator by pretending to have a friend in Canada named Matt. Matt is always the name of Murray's imaginary friends, because both names begin with M and he has no creativity. Steve, exhausted with the trope of everyone in Canada knowing each other, pretends not to understand English and asks if Murray knows French. A silly ploy, since they've been speaking English so far, but Murray seems like the kind of fellow who might fall for it. In the fourth panel, Murray says he doesn't speak Spanish. Is he trying to be funny? Does he really not know that French and Spanish are different languages? We will never know. Steve, done with the conversation, calls Matt an asshole. Nobody wins this conversation. The audience loses.

I realized, the moment I fell into the fissure, that the book would not be destroyed as I had planned. It continued falling into that starry expanse of which I had only a fleeting glimpse. I have tried to speculate where it might have landed, but I must admit, however— such conjecture is futile. Still, the question of whose hands might someday hold my Myst book are unsettling to me. I know that my apprehensions might never be allayed, and so I close, realizing that perhaps, the ending has not yet been written.

The Nine Principles of Propaganda: 1. Lie Big. Big lies work better than small lies because them asses won't believe that anyone would lie "about that." 2. Focus. In another place, Jesus taught that unless people are willing to “hate” their family they “cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:26). The language here seems harsh, especially because families are an important part of God’s eternal plan. But here Jesus seems to intentionally use language that will capture His audience’s attention. He is using the family as a symbol for that which is most precious to us. He is teaching that discipleship ultimately requires a willingness in people to consecrate to God their whole souls, including the things that they value most. He follows this saying with two parables that invited His audience to evaluate their commitment to their discipleship by considering the cost that is expected of them (Luke 14:28–32). Jesus then concludes by explaining, “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33).
