The text reads, “i'd be remiss if i didn't write about the disability representation at least a little bit. i think this probably also put a sour taste in my mouth about the movie as a whole. maybe that's undeserved but this is my letterboxd review and i can do what i want. anyway. my fucking g-d it is 2025 (just about 2026), how g-d damn hard is it to cast disabled actors in disabled roles. every fucking time simone was onscreen, i was woefully distracted by her blocking, her posture, her movements...all of it. from her very first scene it was so abundantly clear that this character was just there to tick a box of a way that people engage with religion. though tbh there are much more interesting intersections of disability and religion than a desire to be healed. but maybe— MAYBE!! her story could've been compelling and interesting and complex, especially because i myself am a disabled person of faith, but it fell completely and utterly flat when there was not a single disabled voice in the room (at least that i can tell from a series of google searches of the cast and crew, correct me if i'm wrong!!). the worst part is that i feel like i can't even be mad about any of this because it's still leagues better than the vast majority of disability rep in media. whatever. i won't harp on it anymore because if you know me, you know my feelings on this.”

Sure, some very loud people opposed the vaccine, but a much larger number just didn't find a cold or whatever it was worrisome enough to go out of their way to prevent it. They couldn't afford the time off of work, or they didn't want to look like a hypochondriac, or no, really, they had an immune system like a concrete wall, they promised. Plenty of folks recovered fully from their first, second, third infections. Even as the virus began to change shape, life marched onwards. Now Once people started waking up with a headache and biting their neighbors before dinner, things got chaotic fast. Major metropolitan areas turned into swirling vortexes of the infected, dying, and undead. Stores emptied, power and phone lines went dead, the military couldn't agree on what to do before they were overpowered. Families scattered or locked themselves inside, everyone trying to get a leg up on someone else.
