We’re excited to announce a new series of our Pints & Politics events that we’ll be hosting across Calgary throughout this year. We'll be hosting one in every ward, every Councillor is invited, and you are too. (Feel free to attend any/all of the events, though, not just the one in your ward!) These events are all about giving Calgarians a chance to meet each other and their City Councillor face-to-face and have real conversations about what’s happening at City Hall. The event is being held in conjunction with the Alberta Institute, whose Project Director, Lindsay Wilson, will host a Q&A with Councillor DJ Kelly, followed by plenty of time for informal conversation. We hope to see you there! BUILDING A COMMUNITY HUB IN DALHOUSIE Hey, neighbour! Today I was happy to see that the Dalhousie Community Association’s application for one‑time funding of $300,000 from the Council Community Fund passed, and that this shovel‑ready project can now go forward. This project will create a community hub and food forest, which will enhance community connectedness and food security for neighbours in northwest Calgary. I was pleased to lend my support for this application, and to speak in favour of it at committee earlier this month. I can’t wait to visit it when it’s completed.
CALGARIANS ARE LOUD AND CLEAR ON THE FREE FARE ZONE, AND SO AM I l've heard from hundreds of Calgarians from every corner of the city, and the one thing that they agree on is that they want the free fare zone to remain in place 98.7% of people who have contacted me want to keep it and these are their top reasons for asking for it to remain 43.5% say to keep it because of the downtown economy 32.2% don't believe that safety will improve with the removal of the free fare zone 29.1% say convenient and accessible transit service will be removed if the free fare zone is I'm listening to all of those Calgarians and will be voting in favour of keeping the downtown free fare zone today

Today, I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of two young children who were found deceased in a vehicle in my ward. As a father of two myself, this tragedy hits me deeply. I, along with many other Calgarians, await the results of the Calgary Police Service’s investigation into these deaths, and I have full confidence that the service will determine why this tragedy occurred. I encourage any Calgarian who has been affected by this tragedy to reach out to the CPS Victim Support Team at 403‑428‑8398 or the Distress Centre at 403‑266‑4357.

Hey, neighbour! I want to congratulate Canada’s own Jeremy Hansen for his historic achievement of being the first Canadian to travel to the moon and back. Across all cultures in Canada, the moon has represented something special, something unique. From being the parade marshal for the Calgary Stampede to all of our neighbours watching his historic journey, he has served as an inspiration for everyone who has had the chance to meet him.
