I revisited the 3E version of Unearthed Arcana to look at its variant for rolling 3d6 instead of d20. Now I want to read its whole chapter of rule variants. Such a cool book! I want a 5e version so bad that I’m half ready to write it.

This is probably my favourite 3e rule book, and the idea is so good that I wish every game had some version of it. So many rules here are great, and worth playing with

Rule variants are always my fave chapter of any RPG. Which says more about me than any individual game!

Great book. I loved the Prestige base classes especially. Going Cleric into Paladin opened up a lot of other classes. Wizard into Bard is also really fun. Cleric into Range is also nice, really gives you a boost in casting while keeping you in the fight.

I have always been curious about the 3D6 games vs D20 as the D20 version is SO very swingy. I didn’t know they did a variant in 3e I will need to add this to my list.
