What follows is a combination of advice and a manifesto of sorts. Start by drawing a cute character and making it move around. Create interactions that are surprising and delightful. "Bad design" is to be dissected, reinterpreted and treasured. The most wonderful worlds are full of secrets. Structure your game around symmetry, patterns, lucky numbers and rainbows and think about "playability" later. Embrace imperfections; let mistakes become mechanics. And the final, most vital rule: Under no circumstances should "rules", "guidelines", "advice", "recommendations" and so forth be taken seriously - treat them with extreme skepticism - revel in ignoring, twisting and breaking them.
