round enamel and silver badge. outer rim of royal blue inscribed Derby School of Nursing, central disc of green ename with a silver garland within which are two trees to the rear and a 'Derby' stag within a circular fence (more like a blob in the image, but I've seen it elsewhere. it's a stag). At the top of the disc is the 'royal shield': in red and blue enamel: top left and bottom right are the three lions (lying down) on red enamel; top right is the rampant lion (standing up) on red enamel; and bottom left is a harp on blue enamel.

Silver and red enamel cross with 'Memorial Hospital' incribed (silver on red) on the vertical bar and 'Darlington' on tthe horizontal bar. a square silver backing plate can tbe seen. A slender chain and pin is attached at the bottom of the badge, to be used as additional fastening.
Maltese cross, with the arms being in an embellised pale blue enamel. The centre has a red enamel rim inscribed 'for God and the Empire' the central gilt disc with a profile image of the figure of Britannia, seated and pointing into the distance, in gilt. Fixed above the medal is a gilt profile of a crown. Above this is the fixing ring which fixes id to a maroon ribbon with a scarlet vertical stripe running down the middle of the ribbon. round enamel badge. outer rim white enamel with silver inscription 'Cranage Hall & Mary Dendy Hospitals. Inner royal blue enamale with the initials CH interwined and H, M, C on three wheat sheaves (alledgedly - they look like mushrooms to me).

Outer two layered rim, white enamel inscribed 'Coventry & Warwickshire Hospital Training School for Nurses. the inner disc has an elephant with a castle on it's back, with a sheild behind it (the left half of the sheild enamelled in red) emblem of Coventry over a blue scroll with the motto Camera Principis-The Princes Chamber - reputedly a reference to the Black Prince who held property in the area. Local Lore, who knew, though what it has to do with nursing I'm not sure... :)
gilt with red and white enamel medal. The medal is attached to clothing via a red enamel bar at the top - this has a scroll design and is red enamel with 'County of Cambridge' inscribed. Hanging from the bar is a round medal, the outer rim is red enamel inscribed 'The British Red Corss Societ'. In the centre is a shield, with white enamel and a red cross at the centre.
round gilt and dark red enamel badge. the outer rim inscribed 'Combines Hospitals Nursing School', an added scroll on the bottom is inscribed 'Newbury. The central disc is divided into three, the background being dark red enamel, the sillouettes being in gilt: left is the cadeus (staff with snake - this snake has a very good forked tongue sticking out and appears to be smiling), at the top is the 'lamp of learning' (aladdin oil lamp style) and to the right is a casle with three towers with flags flying - (the nearest has a triangular pennant, the other two rectangular flags, sillouettes) - this is the stylised interpretation of Newbury Castle which is used in the Newbury coat of arms and often seen in local iconography such as the icon for Newbury Town Council.

The oval rim is inscribed The College of Nursing Founded MCSVI [1916] with either shamrock, rose, thistle and leek for the four countries of the UK at four points around the oval. the centre is interlocking 'C' and 'N' inscribed silver on dark blue enamel. At the top of the badge is a silver bow with a pin to fix the badge to clothing.

Shield shaped silver enamel badge - the main part of the badge is silver with sky blue enamel inscription 'Civil Nursing Reserve' with an enamel sky blue rim. At the top of the shield is a silver and red enamel crown. Quite a simple design befitting its use in wartime.

The shield is topped by a caduceus with 2 entwined snakes.It is also flanked by Pomegranate fruits, a symbol of fertility and regeneration. pomegranates. I ask you. in Chesterfield.... ;)

Appropriate for a mental health hospital. There are four quarters, top right a caduceus shown with two butterflies (as seen on other examples of this badge) or weird little critters (as seen on this badge); bottom right is a 'device' in black on dark blue enamel consisting of circle with a crown at the top and an X through the middle - with the bottom crosses joined with a straight line - known as the "Southwark Cross" or "Bridge House Mark" usually associated with the Trust that looks after London bridges, No idea what it's doing here; bottom left is green enamel with a red an wite circle, within it a 'cross' made up of 5 red dots; and top left is the London County Council (LCC) devie - a white flag with a red cross on it (England) with dark blue and black waves underneath it - The four quarters are divided by white enamel lines. Gold and enamel, oval medal attached to a gold bar. The Oval has an outer rim of navy enamel, inscribed 'Broadgreen Hospital Liverpool'. The inner oval has a raised profile/relief of the impressive gates to the hospital, showing a bit of the distinctive building and somne shrubbery. Smart.
