The Order last reorganized itself in 1945. The strife of internal
warfare from two World Wars sundered the Order, as Arrows
fought one another from opposing sides of a battlefield. This
wasn’t unprecedented — the American Civil War, the Napoleonic
Wars, and sengoku jidai are actually considered healthy exercises
by contemporary Arrow theorists — but it was inconceivable in
terms of scale and lack of purpose. The Order emerged with the
conclusion that war itself had changed. Never again would the
Arrow bind itself to temporal ideals. At the same time, their true
enemies — Seers, Banishers, and the Abyss — were timeless. The
Order abandoned the millennia-long practice of championing
Sleeper societies to focus on individual Consilia, Sleepwalkers,
or sites connected with magic.

Air: This spell cannot be cast underwater or in a vacuum.
Aligned: The caster must possess an Alignment to cast this
spell and the spell gains the caster’s Alignment when it’s cast.
Depending on the nature of Alignment in the setting, the spell
may oppose one or more other Alignments (see page 309).
Curse: This spell cannot be countered or suppressed. It may
only be removed with a Lift Curse spell (see page 135).
Darkness (opposes Light): When a damaging Darkness
spell targets an undead character, that character instead heals
the same amount. Also, magic darkness blocks darkvision.
Earth: This spell cannot be cast in mid-air.
Fire: This spell cannot be cast underwater. Also, any effect or
item generated by the spell is suppressed when submerged.
Ice: When this spell’s effect happens underwater, an ice
block forms across the Area with a Damage save bonus equal to
the caster’s Casting Level + the Spell Level. Any character caught
in this area becomes pinned in the ice block (Athletics check DC
20 to escape).
Light (opposes Darkness): When a healing Light spell
targets an undead character, that character instead suffers the
same amount of damage.
Lightning: When this spell’s effect happens underwater, the
Distance becomes Personal and the Area becomes an explosive
sphere with a blast increment of 2 squares. Everyone in the Area
suffers the effect, including the caster.
Silence (opposes Sonic)
Sonic (opposes Silence): This spell may not be cast in a
vacuum.
Water: This spell cannot be cast in mid-air.

“Look, see, there’s no heat signatures, no bioelectric feedback, just an ambient field of necrotic energy,” Styx said.

“I...thought you were allergic to magic,” Orak said.

“I am. My technology is rated for MR8 planets and higher, we land in dimensions with more intense physics than this,” Styx said, rubbing their chin. “Remind me to tell you about Athas at some point.” They tapped a few buttons. “It looks like they are self aware, though. Damn.”

“Undead can think?” Orak asked.

“In some human worlds, undead have civil rights!” Styx said, nodding. “If they were unthinking, I’d laser them and not think twice. But this is still an actual war.” They frowned. “They’re coming closer, we need to get ready. Come on!”

“How can we hold them off?” Orak asked, hurrying with them as they rushed outside. Styx turned to respond – then sneezed loudly. They groaned, rubbing at their snotty nose, before shaking their head.

“It’s not as bab as it was,” they said, only somewhat snotty. Sniffling a few times, they managed to even sound halfway normal as they ran to the fabricators. “The scuttler scouts showed that party – about thirty Outsiders. Then, there’s another hoard of them, which it detected on long ranged sensors. If we can survive until the fairies come back with people to actually hold these muskets…” They came around the corner and Orak’s jaw dropped as he saw the row upon row upon row of freshly built muskets, each stacked next to the other by the robotic arms that were levering them out of the fabricator and setting them down.

“You built all these while we were talking?” he goggled.

“Automation, Orak, automation!” Styx said, flashing him a playful smile. “Magic has the flashy singular stuff. One wizard can be unto a god. But technology? You can give it to everyone.” They tossed them the musket they were checking over and Orak caught it. “I can give you a basic crash course on these, and then we can get to enchanting.”

People are assigned a gender at birth based on what their parents and doctors think their gender is. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. Worse, some people are born with various unique bodies that confuse and terrify cishet people and they react with unasked for “””corrective””” surgery that you might not even want!

The end result is a lot of people realize at some point that, hey, they don’t actually like this. They don’t like their puberty, they don’t like the clothes their parents make them wear, they don’t like the pronouns they’re addressed by. They don’t like their names! And these people will then go on to try and change all of that so that they feel better and fit better into their own lives. This replaces senses of unease and dislocation with feelings of euphoria, acceptance, and love.

Who’d be against that? Surely, only the lowest, shittiest scumbags in the fucking universe! You’d have to be some kind of unrepentant ratfucking monster to look at something as genuinely uplifting as a person finding their true self and expressing it and see anything but something to celebrate. Ah…good thing we don’t live in the dystopian world of Silent Giants, where some people are that evil.

Flight: This full-body spellware enhancement imbues
the character with the ability of flight as if he were the
subject of a fly spell. The character can fly with a speed
of 90 feet (60 feet if the character wears medium or
heavy armor). The character can ascend at half speed
and descend at double speed. The flying subjects
maneuverability rating is good. Using the fly spell
requires as much concentration as walking, so the sub-
ject can attack or cast spells normally. The subject of a
fly spell can charge but not run, and it cannot carry aloft
more weight than its maximum load, plus any armor it
wears. The ability to fly is based on magic rather than
aerodynamics, so it is unaffected by environmental vari-
ables such as atmospheric pressure and gravity. A char-
acter with the flight enhancement can fly in the vacuum
of deep space or in the gravity well of a gas giant.

Antimatter Cannon: This devastating +2 weapon
fires a stream of magically contained antimatter parti-
cles that are released on contact with a target. Armor
and enhancement bonuses do not apply to the AC of the
target and objects do not receive the benefits of hard-
ness, as the particles react explosively to normal matter.
Indeed, the attack gains bonus damage equal to the
armor bonus of any armor the target is wearing and
deals double damage to objects.

The Long Road
The Long Road is an interstellar superhighway that
links each of the 10 throneworlds by means of a series
of teleportation portals. This highway serves as the main
commercial artery for the whole Empire. The Long
Road is 20 lanes wide and runs for about 10 miles on
each of the throneworlds. Massive commercial, indus-
trial, and distribution facilities crowd both sides of the
highway all along its length. Using the Long Road to
transport both cargo and passengers is vastly more effi-
cient than starships, so the throneworlds serve as the
commercial and distribution hubs of the Empire. Rather
than transport a shipment of darkwood across the
Empire from the Canatar system to the Harbor system, a
merchant or corporation can instead send the shipment
by starship to Andragus, down the Long Road to the
throneworld of the Casenore system by hovercraft or
maglev train, and from Casenore to Harbor by starship.
In many cases, the Long Road cuts millions of credits
off the price tag of cargo and passenger transport. This
immense increase in efficiency makes interstellar trade
in the Dragon Empire financially viable.

Draconis Prime
With the founding of the Empire, the Scion system
was renamed Draconis. Scion III, the systems only hab-
itable planet, was named Draconis Prime and became
the imperial capital

Popularized across the Solarium by vidshows and vidgames and comic books, power armor of various makes and models have become the symbol of the Republic and the United States’ Force. The ships may be more expensive, the CapTroopers may be more common, the support staff may be more important, the magical specialists may be higher paid…but nothing quite typifies the sheer undeniable weight of violence that a state can throw at its enemies more than power armor. Power Armor is made up of six components.
Belt of Hill Giant Strength: Provides 21 strength (see enhanced strength rules at page xx.)
Fully Articulated Armor Cladding: Provides 20 AC, allows you to use your HP when targeted by firearms, and gives a new series of Table of Ouch results (detailed below.) Also, you count as full cover for any friends standing behind you. Any shots that would hit your friend can hit you instead.
Combat Optics and Coms: A radio with a 100km range powered by bleed off from the belt, night vision goggles (60 ft darkvision), flash protector (immunity to flashbangs.)
Sheer Fucking Mass: Your fists count as medium caliber handguns.
Weapon Slots: Can carry 1 PAW on the shoulder, which can be switched to from a normal firearm or melee weapon with a free action.
Also, It’s a Vac Suit: It counts as having a Foldable Helmet, Mechanical Counterpressure Suit, Mag Gloves, D.E.W.S System, FFU and RCS Rig. Yes, this means you get a ‘better than military helmet’ military helmet with the effects of a foldable helmet. It’s power armor, baby!
Power Armor masses at 85 kilograms, but this doesn’t apply to your weight limits because it carries itself.

However, all is not lost if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being flanked and shot. There exists the Table of Ouch. If you take Luck damage or are reduced to 0 Hit Points and don’t want to risk the pernicious death saves, you can instead turn to the Table of Ouch! Each level of the Table reduces gunfire damage by the listed value, or restores that many hit points in numbers of hit dice (you roll when you take it - so, if you were to take a 4 damage ouch effect, you’d roll 4HD to regain HP!)

Unfortunately, this table also inflicts a debilitating wound that has to be dealt with narratively! What fun! Some of these wounds have a choice in where the impact is - the GM gets to choose that. You pick the general outline, they get the specifics, which are guided by the narrative.

Healing these injuries requires a lot of magical healing, a skill check, or sometimes, is just flat out impossible.

2 Damage: Broken limb, concussion, venting spacesuit
4 Damage: Severed digit, gutshot, eye wound
6 Damage: Punctured Lung, Neck Graze
10 Damage: Limb Removed

Firstly, they ignore AC that lacks the bulletproof ability. Your AC becomes 5+Whatever Mods you add (Dex, for most people, Wis and Con for others.)

Secondly, they have “caliber.” Caliber is rated at small, medium, large, huge, and so on. If your caliber is equal to or larger than the target, then your firearm does damage directly to your Luck. If your Luck hits zero, you are unconscious and dying, with a number of failed death saves equal to the excess. So, if you had 2 luck and got shot for 5 damage…you’re just dead! Straight up, since it takes you to 0 luck, then has 3 damage left over. Three failed death saves means you’re dead.

Using Spellbook Software
Wizards are no longer required to spend long hours
transcribing spells into their spellbooks with quills or
fountain pens. They use an electronic stylus instead. The
language in which spells are recorded is not a natural
language and there is no spoken form of it. It is really
just a complex system of arcane notation that is always
at least partly unique to the individual wizard. As a
result, voice commands are of limited utility when
working with spellbook software. When using this soft-
ware, you get a +2 circumstance bonus on all Spellcraft
checks.
Wizards can, however, beam spells via wireless con-
nection between datapads or download them from the
InfoNet. The Imperial Society of Arcane Magic, the
largest organization of wizards in the Empire, maintains
the largest database of spells ever assembled. Dues are
1,000 credits per caster level of the wizard per year.
They’re paid at the end of each year and are based on the
wizard’s level at that time.
Spells stored on the InfoNet or on another wizard’s
datapad are recorded using unfamiliar notation, so you
still need to make a successful Spellcraft check (DC 20
+ the spell’s level) or cast a read magic spell to decipher
the writing. Once a spell is deciphered, you must spend
1 hour plus 1 additional hour per level of the spell study-
ing it (e.g., 1 hour for a 0-level spell, 10 hours for a 9th-

$LOCKING THE DOOR Oh it’s easy, roll your Focus+Labyrinth against simple diff 1 check. A child could do it, probably. The issue is that you can only Lock an Infraction Point from inside the otherspace so you better have some way to escape. OTHERSPACES AND OTHER OTHERSPACES Yes, Otherspaces can have Infraction Points to other Otherspaces, but they are always Closed, never Open. They can be Locked, following normal Locking rules.$

$INFRACTION POINTS AND OTHERSPACES An infraction point is a thin area between our world and the Otherspaces that branch off of it. Each Celebrant is attached to one Otherspace - their Labyrinth - making each Celebrant a walking, talking infraction point. But there are many naturally existing infraction points (in as much as “hole between worlds” can be called natural) and Celebrants are perpetually interested in them. So, how do they work? Infractions are either Open, Closed, or Locked. When an Infraction is Open, you can enter into it by just walking through. This is both extremely rare and very obvious. Anyone with a Labyrinth score can detect an Open Infraction within [Labyrinth x10 Miles], and the FHB has devices that do similar detection. Closed Infractions are capable of being opened and closed by using a Key - this Key depends on the Infraction. It can be a thought being had at the time, a tune being whistled, a certain item being held, arriving at a certain time. Closed Infractions are much harder to detect, requiring you to be within [Labyrinth x 10 Feet] (assuming you don’t have Gnosis **: Darkest Sight.) Locked Infractions are Infractions that have been deliberately sealed. You can only seal an Infraction from the Otherspace side. They can only be opened again with a sufficiently powerful oomph from a sufficiently powerful knock - in general, this requires calling upon strange powers, using ancient artifacts, or finding Transcendent Ones. Moving through an Infraction, once it has been opened, is as easy as walking through a door, round a corner, or climbing a ladder. You just walk through and boom, you’re in an Otherspace! Otherspaces themselves are between one zone (about the size of a room) to the size of a continent. Their physical laws are often reflections of Earth’s - though there can be some with strangeness, which is reflected in a Zone Effect that covers all or most of it.$
