The adults seem to have not much brown
I could have done this a black and white for a sort of noir feel, but then you would not be able to see the bird's brilliant red/orange feathers.
She comes out at night. She goes back to hiding in the morning.

Ventrum is white. Dorsum is green. The throat and head will glow magenta when the sun hits right.

I think the colors are fairly realistic. He looked orange-red in real life.

Realistically, the quail has no concept of photography
If you look really close, like open this image in another window and magnify, you will see there is a hint of red feathers coming through. I'm guessing this is a youngster changing colors. Although, he could be eating a lot of orange and yellow stuff.

This was today. It was starting to rain. I used my macro setup of Nikon D7500 and Nikkor 60mm micro lens with external flash (since I knew that camera was already kind of set for flash photography).

Black and white raptor with stripes. This was like going to the Desert Museum for the raptor demo, but better. This was out in the Sonoran Desert wilderness, and it was free.

I just noticed that some of the central parts are magenta in color
Having wrote that, I am sure an amateur scientist will tell us. Perhaps a professional. The butterfly is generally orange with brown stripes, and it is little. Just an excuse to get some macro photos.
The eyes and legs are red. Could have called it Red-eyed Centris.

Generally is tan gray in color. But look close to see spots of turquoise.
