Ah, so they didn't understand webcomics. Cool. You've distinctly proved them wrong. Baffles me that they didn't understand is that webcomics are just comics on the web. You can just do what you want with them.
The big elaborate pages were what hooked me. You had all the space you could imagine and used it in interesting ways. It reminded me a little of how Bill Watterson said he treated the Calvin and Hobbes Sunday strips
A person far more eloquent than me once argued that the most powerful unit of expression in a comic is the whole page -- the way it can be used to draw the eye, put timing and rhythm into a theoretically static medium, express relationships, all kinds of things. You do that, and it's wonderful.
The fact that Webcomics are primarily online, means they can take the art medium is new and interesting ways. While not every comic needs to adapt to WEBTOONS style long form, it can be used for some spectacular comics. And there is always a way to adapt whatever direction an artist takes a comic.
Even back when I was making comic pages they were 8 frames on average
Being able to do longer setups and more persistent self-contained concepts (dungeons and discourse) just wouldn’t work well in a strip-a-day format where there’s a gag expected every few panels and you can’t put in nearly as elaborate visuals

one of the reasons I got into reading your comic, aside from the gorgeous art and stellar writing was that it each page was a full detailed thing just like a real paper comic.
Big, elaborate pages is bad... in a comic... when comics as a medium have always had big, elaborate pages? 🙄
I'm really hoping I get a chance to buy a volume at some point
