I just finished re-reading the manga. I forgot how goofy it can be, which I love. Makes me wonder why the movie and its "sequels" removed any trace of fun or humor.

I've never read the manga. Only seen a few of the film adaptations. I had no idea the Ghost in the Shell source material was so colorful, gay, and at times, very silly. That's awesome.
I also just love seeing the older style I grew up seeing on imported bootlegs back too!
I read the Manga years & years ago. But my feelings on smut & explcit queer content by straight men is very different now then it was then.
