A photo of the inside of a kiln. There are 48 various test tiles on a series of racks, and 16 self-standing tiles through the centre. In the very middle is a square tile with some pastel-coloured glaze cones on it. These are used to verify the final firing temperature because they melt based on the amount of heat work (which is basically temperature over time).

There are 4 large mugs, a couple of vases, a bowl, a few plant pots, and a bunch of variously-sized mugs. None are glazed...that's the next step.

A photograph of the inside of my kiln. There is a single shelf loaded up with 11 tile racks and 41 test tiles. The tiles are all rust coloured because the glaze I'm testing is coloured with iron oxide! Rust! It's so cool. Anyhow, we'll see how it goes. All of these should be black glaze with various textures ranging from full matte thru glossy.

On the map there are 9 points ranging from the matte to gloss regions. Those are the different silica and alumina levels of the 9 glazes I made for this lab. Fun stuff!

The second row has 5 stages of development: a skateboard, a scooter, a bicycle, a motorcycle, and then a completed car. Each stage has a face over it as well -- the first is sad, but not angry, the second is slightly happier, the third is a little happier, the fourth is happy (motorcycles are cool!), and the fifth is super happy (the car's a convertible!). This is a better way to develop software.
