Stone wall was a riot. The concept of Pride Month began with the Stonewall riots, a series of riots for gay liberation that took place over several days beginning on June 28, 1969. The riots began after a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located within Lower Manhattan in New York City. On June 28,1970, on the one year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the first pride marches were held in New York, LA, and Chicago. Happy Pride Month!

#9: Now is the time As long as the class war rages on, there will be a need for socialist organizing. We are a part of a long-standing tradition that will continue into the future. "Don't mourn. Organize" - Joe Hill When you participate, you multiply your strength to act. While you transform the world, you build community bonds through struggle that can bring you a radical joy. When you organize, fear and pessimism fade into the background, while a bright future emerges — one where you play a key role.
#6: Preventing burnout Burnout in organizing is a real problem. We have a world to win, and we realize the magnitude of the task. Showing up for your comrades and taking on whatever you can is an act of care. If you can even just write that email or pick up coffee before a meeting or take photos at an action, someone else is provided some bit of relief to focus efforts elsewhere instead of being spread too thin. That balance and mutual support keeps our work sustainable and durable.
Word of the day: protagonism Protagonism focuses on working people becoming active subjects in our own lives. Protagonists see themselves as agents of change — people who can remake the world for the common good and play a role in freeing themselves and their communities from the shackles of capitalism.
#1: Does participation help the participant? You’ve identified that something is wrong in the world and it needs to change, but how can you do that? You can’t just wait for someone else to change the world for you. We lack power as individuals, but gain strength through organized, collective action. Ever go to a protest? Your voice may not be loud on its own, but it’s mighty when you are part of a group working together! With more participation in collective action, comes more capacity to solve those problems you are worried about.
