Make sure your mic gain is set to 0.0 dB (you can adjust this in "Advanced Audio Properties" just below the "Filters") Aim to have your mic dB around the -25 to -10 dB range; any higher and you risk audio clipping. Test your range by talking normally and excitedly while watching those levels, take note of what your neutral volume is (average is around -20 to -15 dB) Apply a Compressor Filter to your mic source. Adjust the Ratio to 2:1 (light compression). And set the Threshold to just slightly above your neutral volume (the default of -18 dB usually works). Test again by talking at a neutral volume and then excitedly and watch your mic levels. If you are still resting in the red zone consistently increase the Ratio to 4:1 or 10:1 Test again. If you are still consistently clipping, then reduce your mic gain by adjusting that slider just below your levels indicator. The settings "Attack", Release", and "Output Gain" can be left at their default values. Hope this helps!
