The Place Beyond the Pines is a sprawling generational drama exploring how the sins, choices, and legacies of fathers irrevocably shape the lives of their sons. The title is the literal Mohawk translation for the city of Schenectady, New York, but metaphorically represents a place of consequence, hidden truths, and eventual redemption.
The camera is at the front door. The entryway is a brown runner rug, white vinyl floor followed by tan carpet beneath and around it. On the left a white 2 shelf shoe rack. On the right a row of 3 shelf bookcases with wooden crates and cloth bins. Between the shoes and door is a medium box. On the runner rug is a ripped paper bag. Further in is an upright intact bag. On the other side of the shoe rack is a large 3 sided box overflowing with brown paper and proudly occupied by a tuxedo cat, who is so happy you are here. Visitors quickly realize whose home they have entered.
