1/Thanks for this whole thread! One thing I do when teaching the CVM is I shut up, sit down, and show the Eyes on the Prize episodes. I'm always impressed that the one on the boycott emphasizes the community confronting the power structure as a movement rather than as individuals.

The photo still deserves a Pulitzer. And I don't give a rat's ass about her background because it is irrelevant to this moment. The "men" (I use the term very loosely) surrounding her are modern Klan and she was probably terrified to move or make a sound. I'm an old white lady and I'd be terrified.
Then there are the histories of all of the others in the photo that we will never know, because they are masked and hiding their identities so their employers and families and grannies and kids don’t find out that they are despicable…they are the shit on that train.
