Since we can't get into this properly in a post, all I can say is that if you're in a clinch and you don't know what the fuek you're doing, try and create separation (forearm or palm across the face is always fun) if you're the defender, and if you're the aggressor: grab on to things that are grab-able (hair, clothes, head, arms, hands, MASKS), try and throw them, try to mimic being a hyper-aggressive chud, and try to hit them (gently!). If you're getting pummeled in practice it's okay to call it awash and start over. This is what training is for. You can't ask for a redo in a real fight though. There's an unlimited number of ways these situations can unfold. There's no way I can write them all down and how to respond to each one. Likewise, there's no way you can train for every single possible way. The best you can do is train for what I already listed, that's the best way to prepare for any unexpected wildcards. The chud might be hyper aggressive, they might be way stronger than you, they might be drunk, they might be a trained fighter, who knows? Like I said in Fight Back, fighting is a coin toss. A trained fighter can get knocked out by somebody who's never fought before, you never know what the fuck is going to be tossed at you, so just train for the foundations: stay heavy in a clinch, stay calm, stay off your back heel, tuck your chin, keep a strong base, remain defiant, stay strong in your resolve, and remember: we all have your back!

“If you’re training with friends, and you’re on the feeding end (the person pretending to be the aggressor), be sure to give your training partner a good feed: actually try to get around your friend’s arm. Go slow at first. You’ll need plenty of space to work this because you’ll see that you end up all over the place. Try both going around their guard and also crashing into their long guard. Train for everything. Especially pretending to grab the defender’s arms and move them. Do everything slow at first. If you’re gonna throw elbows, do it VERY slow. This is a very likely scenario, and the defender demonstrates what he would do in this situation (knee, elbow)
“Your striking power comes primarily from the posterior chain and core, if you're doing it right, not from your arm muscles. Contrary to what many body builders and chuds think, getting your arms big and strong only gives you a negligible benefit to striking unless you're, like, super roided out. But even then, a trained striker who's half your body weight could probably still pick you apart. You can jack up the sexy arm muscles and it might get you laid (or it might get you called a douchebag) but by itself it won't make you a better fighter. You gotta blast that core and learn to connect energy from your posterior chain, that's how you get the most results from your elbows in this situation.. This is because when we throw proper strikes we are turning our hip and shoulders into our strikes, by drawing power from our core, oftentimes by pushing off our back heel. Basically, your limbs are just blunt weapons connected to your core. THIS ALL STARTS MAKES A LOT MORE SENSE WHEN YOU JOIN A MARTIAL ARTS GYM”
“You need to practice how to deliver that strike without loading up. Think of the scene from Kill Bill, the one where Uma Thurman’s character is stuck in a coffin and has absolutely no leverage to punch her way out. But she does anyways, by remembering a certain drill her master taught her. The technique she applies in that movie is a real technique in Kung Fu, called “the one-inch punch”, one that Bruce Lee mastered and passed on. They sometimes draw upon that knowledge in Muay Thai for elbows. You can deliver a lot of kinetic energy and drive a lot of power without loading up. The best way to do this is to train it. And by god WEAR ELBOW PADS! If you don’t have friends to train this technique with, working it on a heavy bag will be fine.” Video: the scene from the movie

It works better if you practice with friends. This is basic self-defense that can be applied in any situation, not just at protests. When practicing, use a pad against your chest to mimic the face and cushion the blow, and go very slowly. Your group can buy Thai pads online for relatively cheap and practice this all-too-common self-defense scenario. And if you find yourself pulling your elbow back to deliver a stronger blow, you’re doing it wrong. The whole point is to ninja strike the attacking fucker who’s crashing into your guard. Once you begin to cock your arm back they’re gonna see it coming, don’t give them this tell. Feel the pressure of them pushing into you, that’s them trying to push their weight into your extended hands because they think they’re bigger and stronger than you, and they want to bully you and challenge you. Drop your stiff-arm (stop pushing back) and their forward pressure will be released, they’ll walk right into you, that’s when you smoke them with the elbow

It’s right there, you don’t have to pull back to load it up, when the fucker pushes into your guard, your elbow is a few mere inches away from his stupid face. Push off your back foot and drive that sharp blade right into that fucker’s face, full blast. Put your shoulder into it. They will probably try and grab your arms and move them out of their way, or use their hands to push or knock your arms out of their way, or they will simply drive themselves directly into your hands to test your resolve.

This will establish your new space and create a defensive frame that signals to the witnesses that you do not wish to engage. Stepping back and conceding the initial space with your hands up bolsters a self-defense case, especially if they follow you. 2. You must loudly and clearly command, "Back up, you are touching me," or "Get out of my face." This alerts witnesses both present and on the cameras that you are trying to de-escalate. Don't be shy. If you're here to protest fascism, you must be ready to handle fascist aggression.”
