Another man at the table stood up, one Callon recognized as his family's tattoo artist. The needles on the table began to glow, the artist's materials already prepared. The tattoo artist lifted his hand, and dozens, maybe hundreds of needles hovered over the table. He flexed his fingers, and the needles assembled themselves into the pattern of a lily; the first of many tattoos one might acquire. The potential start of a mural detailing one's accomplishments. The first tattoo was the only one this dramatic; and painful. Normal tattoos could be removed. The lily however, was a test of strength, every single needle searing hot and filled with ink as it punctured the skin. Between the ink and the spell that sealed the tattoo in place, removal would be next to impossible; as intended.
Every time they had kissed before, there was a rush to it; an adrenaline fueled fervor as a precursor to sex. This time, Alyx kissed Callon slowly. He ran his hands down Callon's back, feeling his chest rise and fall. Callon moved closer, wrapping his legs around Alyx as he ran his fingers through Alyx's hair. When he finally pulled away, he stared back at Alyx with a look of brief uncertainty. "Can you do me a favor? If this is where things are headed?" "Yeah, of course," Alyx nodded. "Tell me you're not going anywhere. I know that's a weird thing to say, I know things are weird right now, for both of us, and you don't have to mean it, but I just need to hear-" "I'm not going anywhere," said Alyx. "I wouldn't have made myself look like an idiot if I was.'

But they’re gonna want a picture." "How do you plan on getting that?" Faldra smiled, "we're gonna get creative." And so, Velathil's first activity upon arriving in Faldra's mountain townhome was not a warm shower or a hot meal. Instead, he lied on her floor, covered in pig's blood and butcher-shop viscera as he was coached on 'looking dead'.

Alyx passed rows of shelves, finding a storage closet at the back of the room. He ran towards it, trying to ignore the ringing of the ladder as more people made their way to the storage room. He opened the closet door, barely managing to fit with his backpack. He closed the doors in front of him, listening as pairs of footsteps grew closer and closer. "You know, most people would've just kicked the door down," said another voice; at least two people were down with them. "But melting it? That's not something you see everyday." Where the fuck is Nerixi? A man turned the corner, the crackle of fire coming closer and closer, a ball of flame growing as he approached. The only other direction he could go was forward. I'm dead. I'm going to fucking die here. Alyx looked in the corner of his eye, a bottle of bleach close to him. He lifted his right hand up as far as he could, his shoulder tapping the top of the closet. He flexed his fingers, and managed to sense the bleach through the plastic bottle. No, I can use this. The bottle was flimsy enough for him to harness the bleach without needing to open the container. The bottle glowed, and soon enough, both of his hands resonated with an alkaline-like scent. The man continued to approach the closet, flames emitting from his hands. A smirk covered his face as his warm hand touched the door handle. He pulled the door open, and Alyx held his hands up. A pressurized, hot wave of bleach flew from Alyx's hands directly onto his attacker's eyes and skin. The man lurched back, letting out a scream as smoke rose from his skin.

Never before had Alyx seen such intense moonlight. He had been lucky to not face it head on, Callon blocking the blast from hitting him. The force knocked Callon back into his arms, Alyx feeling only a brief flash of cold on his cheek. The force of the short explosion wrecked the club in seconds. The sound of music was replaced with the fizzle of broken electrical wires. Tables and chairs were strewn about the room as shards of glass covered the floor, the scent of a dozen different alcohols flooding the room. At the epicenter of the explosion, a man held his hands in his pockets, obscured by a cloud of smoke. Alyx blinked, and he was gone. No one had died, at least from what Alyx immediately saw; yet dozens of the club's patrons were covered with frostbite-like silver burns on their skin, many of them just sitting still in shock. Alyx looked down at Callon, his body eerily still in his arms. "Callon?" He spoke softly, trying not to move too much. When no response came, Alyx slowly moved his hand, holding it over Callon's arm. His blood's moving, but…it's slow. Oh, fuck. Oh no.

The Teleporter ride to Eldor was almost exactly like traveling within the city. Yet this time, Callon was in a different hemisphere. Holy fuck my stomach hurts. The doors to the opened, and Callon stared out at Balrea Station; the only Teleporter station in South Eldor. Humid air hit his face, the platform disconnected from the rest of the building as he walked outside. His leather jacket didn't feel like enough back in Irileth, but in Eldor, he felt overdressed, the tips of his ears searing hot. Callon reached for Alyx, balancing himself on his shoulder. Alyx instinctively wrapped an arm around him, making sure he stayed upright. "You okay?" Callon nodded, "yeah, yeah, just...adjusting. It's not even that hot, I don't know why I'm all... ugh." "Right," Alyx smiled. "What was it you said before you left? That you were 'immune to teleportation sickness'? Something like that?" Callon rolled his eyes, taking a deep breath as he took in the new environment around him. "Shut up. This is a different thing. Like, humidity and shit, I don't know."

TWO WEEKS AGO Alyx: Where are you? Alyx: I'm worried about you, please call me when you can. TWO WEEKS AGO Callon: can u make me a grilled cheese 18r :) Alyx: Sure. Callon: i lov uuuu THREE WEEKS AGO Alyx: Can you stop opening new bags of chips Callon: but I wanted a different one Alyx: They're going to go bad Alyx: One at a time. Callon: but i dont wanna do that The whiplash of domestic mundanity to learning who Callon really was wasn't lost on Alyx. Even if it was boring, and sometimes even annoying at times, he couldn't help but miss it. Sitting in a pile next to his bed were the photos from their trip back home, all photos Alyx had rarely smiled in.
They continued on, stopping at a rusty ladder attached to the building, Callon's coworkers out of sight. It doesn't look like a fire escape, it's just one ladder. Do they even need fire escapes in a place like this? Callon turned back to Alyx, looking him up and down. "You look like you work out." Alyx darted his eyes away, taken aback by the sudden compliment. "Thanks, I-" "You'll be fine." Callon hoisted himself up the ladder with ease, moving with a catlike grace. "Try not to stare," he chuckled as he climbed up. Alyx looked the ladder up and down, unsure of how high it went. By the time he looked back up, Callon had already made it a quarter up the ladder. "By the Gods, slow down!" Alyx yelled back, quickly beginning his climb as the ground grew further and further away. "Would you catch me if I fell?" Callon sang, pausing to look back at Alyx. "Fuck no!"
"Callon, your Uncle, there's no way that can be a healthy-" "It's sure as shit a lot better than what I had," he blurted out, his voice far louder than he anticipated. "I mean, he loves them, he's kind to them, he's... he's a good dad. They didn't ask for any of this shit." Alyx paused. "No, but...your Uncle. He's probably got millions, probably even billions in cash!" "It's a lot, I know that," Callon scoffed. "If he really loved them. As much as you say he does. Why not quit?" It didn't even seem like an option. This was his family's burden to bear, was it not? "He can't just quit." Alyx shrugged. "...Why not?" "...I don't know, everything, everything rides on him, everything, people need him." "More than his family does? You're saying a billionaire can't retire? If he really loved them...why do all this? Why keep going? Why subject them to potentially seeing all kinds of shit? Why risk hurting people you love?"
Callon followed Alyx as they headed towards the trains. There, he was greeted with another digital sign, this one much closer to those he saw back home, a packed schedule illuminating the screen. Where Eldor lacked Teleporters, trains made up the difference. He watched as Alyx read the sign, then led them towards a bench further down the hallway, sitting down in front of a tall, glass window. "So..." Callon trailed off. "What now?" "We wait for the train," Alyx took out his Messenger. "Let me call my mom real quick, just so she knows when to expect us." As Alyx's Messenger rang, Callon still had questions. "Wait, the train isn't here?" "No, we gotta wait for it to show up." "…..for how long?" Before Callon could get an answer, Alyx began talking into his Messenger.

He knocked on the door, and when Alyx's mother opened it, she did not gasp. She didn't even scream. She looked at Callon in silence, studying his face as the television played in the background, the noise leaking out the door. Barely, Callon was able to make out the picture on the screen; a picture of him. "Callon Vedrexa is accused of robbing the Grand Sapphire Casino, murdering several security guards in the process," said the TV. "The Grand Sapphire is one of the largest casinos in not just Freehaven, but all of Irileth." "...Can I help you?" Asked Linda.

Despite being human, Antoni didn't seem to have much of an accent, making it impossible to tell where he was from. His formal manner-of-speech made Callon uneasy. "Well...I don't know. It's all a lot of thinking. Not a lot of doing. Like," he flipped through the pages. "This guy's what, eight-hundred years old? And all he's talking about is like, love and shit? Like, dude, if marrying human women keeps bumming you out, then...just stop marrying human women? Shake it up a little. Get some dwarf dick or something. Stop doing the same shit over and over. Antoni nodded his head, "the very definition of insanity."

He magnified further and further, until the microscope could enhance no more. "They're…vibrating…?" Alyx mumbled under his breath, haphazardly taking notes as fast as he could. "Is that normal?" Asked Taleisin. "No. I mean, some movement, sure, but…not this." Alyx held up his hand, the sensation of using magic with nitrile gloves still odd.

"What?" "Dude, I'm looking at your ID right now. You look really weird without the beard, by the way. No offense," he laughed. "You're like a big, angry baby." He let out a sigh, "shut up, I'll check." He grabbed the wallet he assumed was his from his pocket. Upon opening it up, he saw an ID that most definitely was not his. ". '..Well, shit."

"| didn't know a medical license was like...an actual license. That's sick! You got your doctoring license..." he read the small text carefully, holding the card up to his face. "Last year. Whoa." "I'm just trying to help, alright? Now give that back." "I'm still reading it!" The elf exclaimed. Alyxtrados Fairin'..you have a grandpa name, that's so cute," he laughed. "Do you actually gotta like, carry this around with you?" "No, I just haven't found a good place to put it since I moved." Alyx held his hand out for the man to give him back his license, but he kept reading. "'South Eldian Medical Board...EMT, MD, and...MTL'" he read slowly. "What's MTL mean?" "Magical Training License. I've done everything to be a regular doctor, just getting my magic specialization. Then EMT is-" "I know what an EMT is, dipshit," he joked before finally handing the license back. "Alright, I trust you. My friend said it was ketamine laced with anthurium."
