While some new memorial in this area might be appropriate, this is not the time for it. There's no need to rush this structure into construction, purportedly for America's 250th (though it won't be complete for several years), as any such undertaking should proceed with thoughtful, extensive consideration and the full collaboration and feedback of Congress, D.C. residents, and the American people who will be paying for it with their already grossly misappropriated tax dollars. This also is a particularly bad moment, as someone has demolished the East Wing of the White House and that historic building must be restored (no ballroom, no thank you), and there are several other repairs to be done in D.C. to reverse ongoing damage done by the sitting president and his administration. Not to mention, there are many more pressing and beneficial ways in which money can be spent to support the needs of everyone in this country, rather than feed the impulses of one person. I propose any commemorative Arch or other memorial be planned and built for America's 275th anniversary, when the country will hopefully be back on track to being something worth celebrating. Thank you for your attention to this matter. — ECM
