The back side has a weird texture, but I was able to use both sides by taping vinyl lettering (with added marker) words to fit the "hands off" theme, "Hands Off Social Security."

Kukla, Fran, and Ollie. Two hand puppets, Kukla, a humanesque male figure with simple dots for eyes and a large round clown nose, and Ollie (whole name Oliver C. Dragon) a dragon who is mostly a large mouth with a single snaggle tooth. Ollie is wearing some sort of veil. They are behind a rather ornately carved stage, almost like a baroque picture frame. Kukla, Fran, and Ollie was a puppet show that was popular on 1950s television, with Burr Tillstrom as puppeteer. Comedian Fran Allison carried on banter with the puppet cast.

The area next to the front porch that used to be a patch of grass which was super annoying to mow. This photograph shows how I covered the entire area with cardboard to suppress the grass and overlaid it with cedar mulch (best type of mulch for next to the foundation as it has natural pest repellent properties). A decorative glazed pot that is too heavy for me to move is visible, still next to the porch. It has a beautiful brown-tipped grass growing in it; and next year I will dig out the potting soil and insert a plastic pot, so that fall cleanup will entail lifting out the pot and moving the heavy glazed container to the garage so it will be protected from the cold weather. I hope it survives this winter unbroken!
