This seems to be a nice gathering place for authors. If you see me on here a lot, please tell me to get back to work on my WIP - a medical suspense novel about measles! Seattle Storm, Reign, Seahawks, Mariners, Kraken, Seawolves, and Sounders fan.

Recipe for Cock n' Bull Stew 1/4 cup favorite steak sauce 2 chicken bouillon cubes 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1 tsp sugar 1/2 cup hot water 2 to 3 lb chicken thighs 1 lb lean stewing beef cut into 1-1/2" cubes 1 md onion, chopped 2 md potatoes, peeled and cubed 2 md carrots, peeled and slice thin 16 oz can stewed tomatoes 1/4 cup flour Combine steak sauce, bouillon cubes, salt, pepper, sugar and hot water in crock pot; stir well. Add remaining ingredients except flour; mix carefully. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 7 to 10 hours; on high setting for 4 hours. Before serving, remove chicken and debone and then return meat to crock pot and stir well. To thicken gravy, make a smooth paste of flour and 1/4 cup of juices from stew. Add to crockpot. Cover and cook on HIGH setting until thickened.

In any case, don't forget that garlic is a remedy for many ills. When I was a child, I knew an old couple who amazed the whole village with their vitality and good humor. Each year they harvested 800 garlic plants in their little garden solely for their personal use: enough for one big head of garlic each, every day of the year. I won't say that they smelled like Chanel No. 5, but I can tell you that they lived to the age of 90 without problems, and that they died, as the saying goes, in perfect health. ~Roger Verge Ingredients 6 slices white bread 4 heads garlic 4 cubes chicken bouillon 1.25 cups crème fraiche 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 6 egg yolks, optional Preparation This soup should be prepared just before serving. Start making it about 35 minutes before sitting down to eat. Trim off the crusts from the bread slices. Separate and peel the garlic cloves. Half-fill a large saucepan with water, add the garlic, and bring to a boil. Pour off the water. Refill the saucepan with water and bring to a boil again. Drain and reserve the garlic. Return the garlic to the saucepan, along with 3.5 cups water and the bouillon cubes. Place over low heat and simmer until the garlic begins to soften 7 to 8 minutes. Add the bread and bring to a boil. Stir in the crème fraiche, and let the soup return to a boil. Pour the soup into a food processor or blender, add the butter, season with salt and pepper, and process or blend until smooth. Pour into individual soup bowls and add a fresh egg yolk to each just before serving, if desired.

From International Institute for Strategic Studies: US administrations since the end of the Cold War have each valued arms control differently. The bureau now known as ADS is the successor to the independent Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, created in 1961. In 1997, then-president Bill Clinton was forced by congressional opponents of arms control to reorganise the agency and place it in the State Department, supervised by the under secretary for arms control and international security. (Then, as now, a significant majority of Republicans in Congress opposed international arms control.) Clinton disbanded the agency in 1999 in exchange for the Senate’s ratification of the Chemical Weapons Convention, with its functions divided among the Bureau of Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs and the Bureau of Verification and Compliance (created in 2000). In 2005, then-president George W. Bush combined the arms-control and verification bureaus into the Bureau of Verification, Compliance, and Implementation. Arms-control supporters opposed this move, viewing it as a way of de-prioritising the issue. Then, in 2009, Barack Obama’s administration, which supported arms control, changed the name again to the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance."
