Celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility
2 million miles flown: everyone deserves access to the healthcare they need, including abortion and gender-affirming care. Our volunteer pilots backed up by airlines provide no-cost transportation for those who need assistance.
Today, we remember and honor the transgender individuals whose lives were tragically taken due to acts of anti-trans violence and isolation. We recommit ourselves to action for a world where trans people live long, happy, and healthy in their full selves. Our Response: Working with dozens of providers, support groups, and community organizations around the country, we’ll continue flights at no cost to help families begin or continue gender-affirming care. Everyone has the right to control their own bodies and futures as well as to raise healthy children.

Medical Misogyny The CDC’s medical definition of HIV/AIDS skewed heavily toward men, which neglected to recognize opportunistic infections that commonly affected female bodies with AIDS, such as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and cervical cancer.

Today is the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Stonewall was a direct response to the police oppression of the LGBTQIA+ community in NYC.

June 24th marks the 3rd anniversary of the SCOTUS decision on the Dobbs case, erasing nearly 5 decades of precedent protecting abortion rights.
Help Trans Kids Get the Care They Need: Parents have spent years raising their kids and working with medical professionals to understand how best to keep them healthy and happy. Because of the SCOTUS decision this week, trans kids will face more barriers to the care they need because of their gender identity. Transgender kids are not alone in this fight. We fly every day for families to access the care they need, for transgender people’s rights to control their own bodies and their own futures. The holiday Juneteenth was recognized first by Black Texans and now by Americans everywhere as a day to celebrate the freedom of those previously enslaved. Today, we continue to fight for the freedom of all Americans, including those enslaved through forced prison labor.
Breaking New: The Supreme Court believed the junk science and veiled transphobia to uphold Tennessee’s ban on hormone therapy and puberty blockers for trans youth even though cis youth can receive the same treatments. In 23 other states, there are similar bans. This means that families all over the country will continue to see barriers to healthcare that keeps their children healthy and thriving. But that’s not the end of the story.
Today we remember the victims and survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting where 49 people died and dozens more were injured in 2016. The Pulse nightclub in Orlando was a favorite place of the LGBTQ+ community, a place filled many nights with community and joy. The struggle against hate never ends, and we owe it to the victims, the survivors, their loved ones, and ourselves to keep working to make a more safe and just society.
What are examples of medical GAC interventions? Hormone therapy. Facial masculinization or feminization surgery. Top surgery. Bottom surgery. Hair removal. Voice changing surgery.
What is gender-affirming care? Gender-affirming health care (GAC) can include any single or combination of a number of social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions designed to support and affirm an individual's gender identity - World Health Organization.
Elevated Access has flown 2500 Passengers! Everyone deserves access to the healthcare they need, including abortion and gender-affirming care. Pride Month History Moment: Robina Asti, Veteran, Activist, Pilot, Flight Instructor. Robin lived a long life, transitioning in her 50s after the birth of her youngest child. She was a pilot during WW2 and holds the record for the oldest flight instructor when she gave a lesson at 99 years old. Later in life, she advocated for changes to invasive FAA medical exams that applied to all women. She also won changes for trans spouses from Social Security for survivor benefits.

The President’s comments about DEI in aviation, especially around mental health are completely wrong and uninformed. The requirements for pilots and air traffic controllers are very stringent around mental health. Nothing has changed to make that “easier” for decades. It would be impossible for someone with safety-impacting mental health challenges to be a pilot or air traffic controller. He continues to demonstrate his bigotry and incompetence with what he said today.
To our trans and non-binary passengers pilots, partners, friends, and family: You are not alone. There are even people who do not know you that love you and care about you. We're here for you.

In our first 18 months, we completed 400 flights. In the next 6 months, we doubled that to more than 800 flights total.
It’s going to be really hard, but we’re here to help people keep their bodily autonomy with flights to abortion care.

Willa Brown and Cornelius Coffey owned and operated the Coffey School of Aeronautics in Chicago. They trained more than 1000 Black aviators, many of whom became members of the Tuskegee airmen.
