It works like an authentication proxy that sits in front of Kubernetes and proxies kubectl requests. The proxy verifies that you are logged in, has access and executes the command on your behalf.

Paralus also has a convenient web UI where you can give cluster access to users, see which clusters you can access and even access them with a terminal right there in the web UI. You never know when things are burning and you don't have your computer, so very nice!
