When inspecting the tree, the narration states that "he" is behind it. Inspecting the area behind the tree reveals that there is a Man there, who is offering something. If the offer is accepted, it is revealed to be an Egg. After that, inspecting where the Forgotten Man was reveals that he is no longer there. The area cannot be re-entered.
