Emily Shepherd 💚 @emi.ly · 26d We don't need more data centres. We need to make better use of the data centres we have today. Most businesses running in the cloud massively over provision their virtual machine capacity, and cloud providers are all too happy to sell it to them.

But this has created an pandemic of thousands of machines, sat whirring away in super-cooled data centres, doing absolutely nothing. Draining business' bank accounts, for nothing. Using up electricity, for nothing. Damaging the environment, for nothing.
