3. Criminal: Bad Night, by Brubaker & Phillips 4/5 Criminal continues to impress! I think the BIG twist is pretty obvious from jump and I wish Brubaker could better navigate this genre's proclivity towards misogyny, but what surrounds these critiques is so strong that I can't help but be a fan.

4. City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare 3/5 A tricky one! There is a lot to be impressed with here; Clare absolutely nails her characters and the YA urban fantasy vibes, but much of this book is devoted to dancing around a mystery that never becomes compelling. It's reveal, however, is interesting!
