Daily art, nothing I can imagine is stranger than something that actually exists, somewhere in the universe.

crayon, ink, acrylic. this was literally a memory of what I saw with eyes closed, the network of little veins. the colors aren’t as bright as I wanted, but it was dark shot through with red and orange, with bright blue-green in the between spaces.
crayon, ink and acrylic paint, abstract but full of numbers. and some moths, and dots. angular wide black lines weave through a thicket of numerals, mostly in shades of green. I had a long day, full of numbers.
watercolor and ink, abstract. another tangle, with primary color splotches ground, woven over with black and white ink lines in a rather tangled mess.
water soluble graphite and crayon, abstract. three blue marbles nestled in a tangle of black lines, a red ribbon, and gold and green shading. sort of an organic looking mess.
ink and water soluble crayon. abstract, but it vaguely resembles the profile of a person, eyes closed and mouth open, against a blue background (sky, or water) with a round shape that could be a moon.
ink and crayon scrawl of a flower (pink, daisy-like, many missing petals) and a bee (bumble, fat, yellow and black). it’s all done fast and sloppy.

pencil and crayon drawing. a little hedgehog lies open-eyed beneath a butterfly perched on an egg. the egg is not really sitting on the slender leaves of the plant that frames it; perhaps it is just floating there.
water soluble graphite and crayon. a couple of flowers on drooping stems, growing from perhaps muddy ground or a puddle. purple and gold backdrop. i am very tired.
crayon drawing, expressionistic. three beings, none of whom look particularly pleasant. one has a little white dress and big yellow hair and an angular face. one is green with no face except a band of white, and also little floppy ears. one is red and black, and peers grinning over the shoulder of the green one. it’s not really a portrait of one of the performance groups i went to hear this evening.

ink and watercolor. two beings that could be bugs seem to be sharing beverages and company on a ground of leaves and blue swooshes.
watercolor based on a photo of ferns reflected in still lake water. the painting is very loose and sketchy, and I don’t think the actual reflections came off clearly, so I put in an extra dragonfly to make up for it.
crayon and ink. a purple winged critter with some resemblance to a pterodactyl possibly threatens a couple of small golden quadrupeds, one of which is hiding behind some green plant thing. gold spots dot the field, and also dot the sky.
water soluble crayon, abstract. Crescent moon shape on a blue ground. superimposed are a series of black curved lines descending, like ribs or claws, and a series of red sticks not quite matching up to the pointed ends of the curves. I spent the evening at a concert by EMEFE, a NYC band featuring a boss horn section and many playfully interlaced rhythms.
mixed media. a grid of 9 rectangles. on a ground of soft curves of color there are masses of calligraphic black ink imaginary writing, and on top of that, the alphabet is painted in bold acrylic colors, outlined in black ink.

magazine picture collage. the background is the interior of an old and rubble-filled church (Turkish, if I remember correctly). there’s a man walking through it. he is surrounded by bits from a painting found in an art magazine, that have a flooded house and two people reaching upward, in this context, from windows of the church. There are also some bits from a Bosch painting, and a couple of odd creatures from National Geographics, including a man having a stare-down with an emperor penguin across the rubble.
It’s a photo of Paris, with round cutouts that frame assorted images of animals, people, and scenes. this all sits on a ground made of collaged bits of an old line drawn map of Paris that once decorated a standing screen that I had to strip and repaint to get it back into use.

water soluble graphite and crayon. a coiled nest of brambles, and a line of 5 winged red shapes below, within, and escaping into the clear air above. just learned of an old friend gone into hospice, and at my age I guess I’d better start getting used to hearing this kind of news. sigh.

I spent the earlier part of the evening pruning bushes and moving brush piles, if that helps any with the explanation.

water soluble graphite and crayon. It really is just two trees. their leaves are shapes and colors different from each other, but they overlap, and the root systems which you can see below are intertwined. the picture is decorative and simple, colors soft greens and orange-browns.

water-soluble crayon, mostly brown with black lines. I mean, it really could be a close-up picture of a bug. there are definitely legs, 5 of them, and even a couple of little deely bopper antennae. maybe it’s eating its way through a chunk of wood, so all the brown texture.
water soluble graphite and crayon, abstract. curvy lines, something that looks like an eye giving a solid roll on one side, under some streamer things blowing straight out. on the other side a sort of hose with a complaining sort of opening. but the colors are soft shades of blue, red and green, and the lines are relaxed not agitated. anyway, that's my story.

crayon drawing, sort of abstract, but it really does look sort of like a boulder sitting on flat ground in a dark atmosphere full of parallel diagonal lines that certainly could represent a heavy rain. there are also some pale blobs in what would be the sky – maybe more rocks, but floating? or odd exclamatory bits of light.
