It was then that I noticed movement on the sheet next to me. I looked to see a massive palmetto bug crawling toward me on the bed. Without thinking I shut the book and smashed the spine of it into the center of the roach's back, splitting it in half and staining the white sheets with brown juice. Then I started bawling. Just crying and crying like a big baby holding my copy of The Metamorphosis with bug guts on it.
Like I said the plastic empties were whatever, but at this show the crowd was experimenting with ammunition that was in violation of the Geneva Conventions of rock warfare. For instance wallet chains. It seems unlikely that concertgoers were willingly parting with these cherished accessories, and much more plausible that they were being lost in the pit, sourced by guerilla insurgents, and whipped with startling aim in our direction.
