$Erhält man von $t = S$ bis $t = T$ kontinuierlich Zahlungen $C \ \mathrm{d}t$ und unterstellt eine Rendite (= Diskontrate) $r$, so ergibt sich ein Wert von $$\int\limits_{S}^{T} C \cdot exp(-r \cdot t) \ \mathrm{d}t \ = \ \frac{C}{r} \left( \exp(-r \cdot S) - \exp(-r \cdot T) \right)\text{.}$$ Dieser Wert muss (mind.) den Kosten entsprechen um rentabel zu sein. Für zwei unterschiedliche Werte $T = T_{1}$ und $T = T_{2}$ ergibt sich damit ein Unterschied (Mehrgewinn) von $$\frac{C}{r} \left( \exp(-r \cdot T_{1}) - \exp(-r \cdot T_{2}) \right)\text{.}$$ Dieser entspricht einer relativen Änderung von $$\frac{\frac{C}{r} \left( \exp(-r \cdot T_{1}) - \exp(-r \cdot T_{2}) \right)}{\frac{C}{r} \left( \exp(-r \cdot S) - \exp(-r \cdot T_{1}) \right)} = \frac{\exp(-r \cdot (T_{1}-S)) - \exp(-r \cdot (T_{2}-S))}{1 - \exp(-r \cdot (T_{1}-S))}\text{.}$$ Für $T_{1}-S = 40$ und $T_{2}-S = 80$ und $r = 6~\%$ ergibt sich $$\frac{\exp(-6 \% \cdot 40) - \exp(-6 \% \cdot 80)}{1 - \exp(-6 \% \cdot 40)} \quad \approx \quad 9 \%$$$
