These remind us of the backing colors for Hanafuda cards, though, and it’s probably not a coincidence. /11

No news on what will happen if you put a Switch 2 cart into a Switch 1 system. Given what we see later, they might want to preserve the ability to load the Switch 1 version of a game. It will be fun to experiment! No news on the flavor profile yet, though; we’re hoping for “caliente”. 12
It's funny that red used to be a special cartridge color for DOOM or Pokemon Red, Ruby and Fire Red, now it's the default color for Switch 2 I hope the next generation of Pokemon will bring back version exclusive cart colors. A feature the DS 3DS and Switch eras lacked
