A reptile and amphibian survey of the relatively unexplored karst landscape in Cambodia’s Battambang province conducted by Fauna & Flora, government staff and expert herpetologists revealed a number of species believed to be new to science, including several previously unknown cave geckos. 🦎
Fauna & Flora’s marine team in Myanmar encountered an unusually large pod of Irrawaddy dolphins congregating off the coastline, which is a reliable indicator of breeding activity and an encouraging sign for this endangered species. 🐬

Fauna & Flora’s in-country partner in Honduras has discovered a new species of magnolia. 🌼 ‘Magnolia ciroorum’ was found in Pico Bonito National Parl during fieldwork to document and safeguard the threatened tree species within this globally important haven of biodiversity.
New populations of skywalker gibbon, named after the Star Wars character, have been found in Myanmar. The discovery was confirmed using acoustic monitoring, which identifies gibbon groups based on their early-morning songs, and analysis of DNA samples from chewed plants. 🎤🎵
