FERC Term of the Week! “Transmission Congestion": Congestion happens when demand for electricity transmission is greater than the physical limits of the transmission grid in an area.
FERC Term of the Week! “Cost Containment”: In the context of electricity transmission development, cost containment refers to commitments by a transmission developer to keep a project’s costs within agreed limits. These commitments can include caps on total project cost, limits on profit, or requirements to share savings with customers if costs come in lower than expected.
FERC Term of the Week! “Pipeline Certificate”: A certificate issued by FERC under the Natural Gas Act that grants a company the authority to construct and operate an interstate natural gas pipeline. Simply put, it’s the FERC approval needed to build a new gas pipeline.

FERC Term of the Week! “Demand Response”: Demand Response (DR) programs incentivize consumers to reduce electricity usage during peak demand periods, helping to stabilize the grid and lower costs.
The Integrated Licensing Process (ILP) for the proposed Pushmataha County Pumped Storage Project (Docket No. P-14890) has been terminated. FERC found the proposed study plan filings insufficient to proceed. The preliminary permit remains valid through March 31, 2027.
