An email from Dominion Energy reads: Dear Valued Customer, Adjustments to your monthly energy bill can make a difference, and we want to make sure you are aware of what's changing with your bill and what you can do. Effective July 1, the fuel portion of your Dominion Energy Virginia bill has increased. The fuel charge is the cost to produce electricity and buy power from other energy providers. For a typical home using 1,000 kilowatt-hours, this means about $8 more per month on average. Your costs may also vary from the "typical bill" based on the size of your home and energy efficiency. This change reflects increases in fuel prices and the cost of purchasing power from other providers over the past year. These costs are passed along - without markup - so customers only pay what it costs to provide reliable service. What you can do: You have a variety of options to help manage your usage and bill: Track and adjust your energy use, especially during peak heating and cooling months to spot patterns.
