The last day approaches… Ellen is a girl who wants to protect. Shard is a dragon striving to heal. Two weeks ago, they came together to survive impossible odds, but their struggles are far from over. Traversing the Wildlands, where dragons make their home and no human is safe, the pair embarks on a mission to seek the mysterious Temple Mountain, for it may hide a secret that can quell the god Agito’s wrath. But although their friendship has lifted Ellen from her darkest depths, Shard is still floundering. If they are to succeed, they’ll have to face harsh truths about themselves, their families – and the world. Lana is a girl desperate to be seen. When her father, Jess, tasks her with finding a dragon’s magic ring, she jumps at the chance for his attention. But Jess isn’t the man he pretends to be. Soon, his scheming lands her in the Wildlands with only her former friend Ellen and Shard for allies. To stay alive, Lana will have to put her hatred of dragons aside – and question everything about who she wants to be. Firebug is a dragoness hungry for change. All her life, the males of her tribe have treated her like she's less, refusing to believe in her exceptional precognition. But when she learns a shocking secret, she must flee the tribe with two strangers who might hold the key to properly honing her powers – if she can even trust them. Four lives on a collision course. With Inferno, Jess Flint, and an underground society of hipsters you probably haven't heard of all vying for the diamond, Ellen and Shard will have to use all their strength, creativity and resolve to keep it out of evil hands – and this time, there won't be a next time like last time.
