A Genmon from the ancient past, Braken were said to summon vast storms and whirlpools off the coasts of Hayle. Ancient peoples would leave offerings to Braken for safe voyages though over time their hunting grounds were overfished. Revived through science, this Braken is much smaller than the ones of old.
When a Pidgidiot eats enough and collects enough shiny things it is said they evolve into Pidgenius. Many Professors believe that their perceived simple-mindedness is a ploy to help facilitate evolving more swiftly. Pidgenius build elaborate nests in the cities of Hayle and many are considered works of art.
Alguy go with the currents and are rare outside of Hayle save for the winter months where they often wash up on shore. They are a natural source of vitamins and minerals and are a favorite snack of Puffalt. Because they grow quickly, removing parts of their body do no lasting harm.
The evolved form of Caffiend, this Genmon is said to occur when a Caffiend has run out of Coffee Beans to consume and in its anger gets all steamed up, creating the frothy brown substance that makes up the body of Bevrage.
This small Genmon quietly waits in the stores of Hayle's various coffee houses, disguising itself as a simple Coffee Bean, to devour the stores for itself. They are often found because they have trouble containing their laughter as they enjoy their little prank.
Stratosfir travel with the weather currents of Hayle and can be found mostly in foggy weather when they descend from the skies and high mountains where they congregate. Like the Ousatian, Stratosfir are viewed as protective spirits of Hayle and the embodiment of the temperate rainforests that make up its western reaches.
When these Genmon sleep in the rain, their long bodies create watertight springs that other forest Genmon congregate around. Vineasel are generally docile, and are known to let the springs they form be emptied before moving.
With their long bodies and dense foliage, Ferneasel are excellent forest hunters. Their prey mostly comes from roots and saplings, so their hunting skills are somewhat of a waste.
Mosseasel rub the mossy parts of their body on one another as a form of greeting, each having distinct smells only they can detect. To humans, a Mosseasel smells like petrichor and many people keep them in their homes to filter the air around them.

Female Hooliduck are even more territorial and build stony armor about their body so they can protect their eggs while roosting.

While these Genmon look cute, they are not native to Hayle and have proven a threat to local watering holes, rivers, and lakes. Their native Region is far more dangerous, giving them a rugged and far more aggressive personality than their looks suggest.
As social hunters, when a colony of Cindershriek congregates they can increase the ambient temperature of their surroundings by up to 20 degrees. Genmon Rangers are known to use mobile speakers to break apart these colonies to prevent forest fires in dry seasons.

Cindersqueak’s echolocation is so powerful it can even sense variations of temperature. They congregate around large fires and use the difference in body temperature of their prey to perform a near 100% catch rate.

They have exceptionally strong claws that let them hang on cavern ceilings, though if shocked they might fall. Their spines are especially sharp and dangerous, accumulations of minerals having coated them in a metallic sheen.
Also called Earth Pig and Prickly Pig, Porcumite are small and shy creatures that enjoy rooting around in loose soil which is said to protect them from the harsh sun and dry weather. Walking barefoot on the trails of Hayle can often be dangerous.While Porcumite quills are not lethal, they are still sharp enough to cause harm.
Splounder are a main food source for many Genmon and without this predation the waterways of Hayle would be overrun with them due to their mating habits. Many Trainers from the coast of Hayle have Splounder as their first Genmon due to their abundance.
The evolved form of Spoul, the Mummantula spends most of its time knitting ghostly thread to cover itself in. These threads are as hard as iron, and many in Hayle cultivate these threads like one would cultivate worms for silk.
Spoul’s venom affects the minds of its victims, making them more susceptible to coercion as if they were hypnotized. It uses those Genmon that it bites to steal human food, rather than prey on them specifically.
Swambore enjoy a sedentary lifestyle and wallow in mud to keep bug Genmon from biting them while they rest. When provoked, a Swambore’s otherwise idle personality flips like a switch and they will pursue those that annoy or threaten them for miles.
The young form of Puffalt, these Genmon keep their salt-crusted eggshells within their feathers to snack on when food is scarce. This causes Naclegg to avoid the water until they’ve eaten through this reserve.
This Genmon sucks on its tail to create moisture, which it freezes and flings at prey in sharp shards. Scoupurr are mischievous at play, some theorize that this is to teach them to be more cunning hunters in the wild.
The Idol Playbook utilizes Genmon not in fights but in contests, challenging their bonds and ability to put on a good show over how well a Genmon can be directed in combat.
Coming from the Sage region, the Transfer is eager to learn about how Hayle utilizes their Genmon in both battle and every day life.
The Genmon known as Bogfoot can be found in the myths and legends of many Regions though the most iconic and well known stories arise from Hayle. It has many names across these Regions but the Hayle Region generally calls them Bogfoots. These Genmon are incredibly shy and elusive, staying far from human habitation.
Found in almost every city in Hayle, Pidgidots are said to be too simple-minded to clean themselves and people often liken others to these Genmon in cruel barbs. Looks are deceiving, Pidgidiots are known to be quite shrewd and pick out park-goers with food as marks, following them around for crumbs and offerings of food.
Fairly popular in Western Hayle, Poug are well loved for their large ears and friendly nature. Even at this stage, Poug are fierce protectors and need training to accept the company of anyone but their Trainer.
Ousatian are a rare sight in Hayle, they’re said only to prowl the most wild and far flung parts of the Region in present day. A legend goes that the founder of Hayle was raised in a tribe of Bouxer, and when they stepped out of the wilderness the entire pack had evolved into Ousatian.
Bouxer can be found in the iconography of Hayle for as long as there have been people habitating the Region. Seen as a protecting spirit, Bouxer statues are placed in many homes and public buildings to incite the spirits of Bouxers past to protect these areas.
