First tomatoes turning red, but must leave them there apparently it helps the others ripen. Not sure if it's true, maybe someone more knowledgable will know ? 🌱 🍅 #Gardening

Ha ha ha. It wouldn’t matter in my garden. My two grandsons would eat them right away regardless 😊.

I don’t know how knowledgeable I am…but in my experience, picking the ripe (and almost ripe) helps the others ripen sooner. My understanding is that it frees up plant energy for the green tomatoes. It’s similar to dead-heading flowers. Taking the spent flowers boosts all the buds to bloom.
