A compilation of solar flares with visible supra-arcade downflows (SADs) from the SAD Catalog (SADCAT). These videos were generated from data collected by SDO/AIA with the 131-Å filter (extreme ultraviolet) and are shown in blue false color.
Video from the 211-Å filter of the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) aboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) displayed in false-color purple alongside video from the continuum filter of the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) aboard SDO displayed in grayscale. The former shows the growth of NOAA active region 14493 in the corona and the latter shows the growth of the associated sunspots in the photosphere. The videos are synchronized with each other, and both start at 2026-07-18T23:00 UT and end at 2026-07-22T00:00 UT. Further details about the active region are presented in the quoted post.
A false-color red Hα image of the Sun's eastern equatorial region rotated 90° clockwise (i.e., south is left and north is right). Prominent bright plage are visible to the south of the equator with dark filaments weaving between individual bright patches. A single active region is visible north of the equator with two large sunspots. To the west of the active region is a large jagged-looking filament.
