Here are a few simple things you can do right now to make a difference. Get a library card- and use it. Read banned books. Say no to overconsumption- find creative ways to use what you have at home instead. Do you need 6 Stanleys? Shop small- if you are spending money, spend it on small, local businesses when possible. Minimize/stop social media usage on Meta (FB, IG, Threads, Messenger), X, and Tik Tok. Support artists and art- buy tickets, buy art, show up. Music, writing, and art have a way of connecting us all and help to inspire change. Research organizations in your city that are fighting for what you believe in, and join them. Big changes often start small, and local. Take care of yourself- get plenty of sleep, drink water, create a mental health action plan. Wear a mask (N-95's, KN-95's, etc.) and make sure you are up to date on vaccinations. Protect your health. (Trump pulled out of WHO). The fight for freedom is a marathon, not a sprint. You can’t burn yourself out week one. Take breaks and find time for joy, laughter, and love.
