Kenmore 10 stitch sewing machine with a fork taped to the back, near the hand wheel. A small binder clip is taped to the top of the machine. The thread is threaded from a cone standing behind the machine through one of the tines on the fork, through the binder clip and then follows the normal thread path of the machine. It works quite well.

1906 Singer 27 treadle sewing machine stitching on some scrap fabric. Unlike modern machines, the 27 has a long bobbin and a bullet shaped shuttle. It is simple and efficient. True, it has no back tack but the little dance the needle does when making a stitch is an endearing feature that makes this antique worth using. There is no way a Bernina B880 will still be stitching in 2145. Just saying.
