You have taken your life into your own hands; something it took me nearly my entire life to accomplish. Your siblings would be proud, too. I know they are happy for you." Allie replies, "I will continue to make you proud. I promise." A minor detail - there are two characters in the background with their backs to us, sat along the ledge over the bay. One is an elezen and the other is a lalafell - a reference to the two characters who came before Makoh'to. :)

Now for my true rarepair - Miladeen from the Sharlayan custom deliveries and Allie!!! I honestly didn't know what would happen when I opened up my canvas tonight. I wasn't even sure what ship I'd draw... apparently I'm expanding the Allideen lore. Firstly, Makoh'to floats the idea of Allie doing the exchange program in Sharlayan and she ultimately decides to go. Allie keeps her rather infamous last name (Baelsar) and finds it very lonely in Sharlayan, where everyone is acutely aware of her adoptive father's legacy... but Miladeen, hailing from Thavnair where they were spared the terrible fate of other territories, is not as innately familiar with the terrors the Garlean Empire have imposed among the star. Miladeen herself being an exchange student strikes up conversation with Allie - the girls become close during their time studying in the program. In this scene I imagined Allie has expressed wishing to know more about Werlytian history, but how a lot of the material was confiscated or burned when under Garlean rule... Miladeen finds a book about Werlytian history in the library, excitedly showing Allie! Rather than bring Allie excitement, it dredges up a moment from her past that reminders her why she has to seek out Werlytian historical texts at all. (And even then this one may very well be written with the scholarly slant of an observer from Sharlayan...)

a tasty part of mewlsar to me is gaius might have the best guide to enlightenment at his side and he will still never fully achieve it - but it's not meant to be done in one life time, and i like to think once makoh'to and gaius return to the aether a bit of their aether will find itself together again in a new form (not entirely composed of JUST their aether) and they'll be one step closer to true enlightenment together!
This one was drafted first then later inspired by the Ace of Wands for the background (or maybe I just didn't want to draw them in Terncliff for the lighting I had in mind... it's a mystery) - this one is also kind of a redraw of one I did a couple years ago! Peeled fruit is such a simple and kind gesture, and one I'm sure Gaius has not had the pleasure of having... no less from his former adversary! I might have also given Makoh'to some... enlightening elements. :) Originally the "bloom" part of this prompt was going to be in the form of lotus flowers but I do not have the time to do all of that. The "decay" part is Gaius just being in shadow to Makoh'to's "bloom"/sunshine.

This one is technically two rarepairs if you squint. ;) The six swords were definitely added in to represent the Six of Swords tarot card and not just because I thought it would look cool + reference Emerald Weapon. 🙂↕ Anyways, forged in the hands of the Empire as represented here by Emperor Solus and tempered in the loving hand of Makoh'to. Do not misconstrue this as Gaius having no agency in his life tho! Even if he's an Ascian's (or two...) favorite play thing 😂

A one page comic. The top part contains four equally sized panels showing mirrored scenes between Valdeaulin + Makoh'to and Severa + Gaius. In the first two panels Makoh'to and Gaius both have their backs facing the viewer as Valdeaulin and Severa speak to them, respectively. In the first panel Valdeaulin says, "Oh, Makoh'to. Gaius is in the dining hall if you'd like to see him." In the next panel Severa says to Gaius, "Sir, Makoh'to arrived not too long ago, if you'd like to greet him." The next two panels show Makoh'to and Gaius turning around to face Valdeaulin and Severa, respectively, in their separate scenes. Both appear to have the hair along their hairline astray - Makoh'to is smiling while Gaius remains stone faced. Valdeaulin's head falls to the side as thinks, "You already did. Of course." while Severa brings a hand to her mouth and merely responds, "Ah, never mind." The last panel, that occurred earlier in the timeline of events, shows Makoh'to and Gaius nuzzling their foreheads together. Gaius is noticeably leaning over to accommodate for the height difference. Gaius, smiling, is saying "The people will talk." and Makoh'to continues nuzzling against him, saying "Hehe, let them!"
